Join our exceptional team and help us continue to provide the highest quality of health care possible to our communities.Behavioral Health Tech - Lorain HospitalShift/Schedule:Full Time - Scheduled for 40 Weekly HoursShift Times - Afternoons/Evenings (3pm-11pm)Weekend and Holiday availability as requiredUnder the direction of the RN, provides direct patient care and participates in maintaining a safe and therapeutic milieu.  Assists licensed nursing staff by performing non-technical skills and assisting patients with activities of daily living on the unit.  

POSITION CRITERIA:  The ability and willingness to identify with, share in, and have a commitment to the philosophy, mission, values and vision of our Sponsors and Mercy.  Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.   Ability to prioritize multiple assignments while meeting rigid deadlines.  Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, families, a variety of professional disciplines and the general public.  Ability to use critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills including but not limited to analysis, problem solving, and decision-making.  Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and web-based applications.  Promotes and maintains a safe environment conducive to healing and health promotion.  Performs active milieu assessment while assigned to safety rounds.   Identifies patient behaviors that contribute to development of a crisis; utilizes non-verbal and verbal techniques to de-escalate crisis situations.  Provides direct patient care and monitors ongoing status Observes and documents patient information pertinent to patient’s condition per policy.  Initiates and maintains a therapeutic relationship with patients.  Participates in the safe management of the milieu, intervening effectively with patients who behave inappropriately or who are having coping difficulty, utilizing effective non-abusive crisis prevention/intervention techniques.  Performs work in accordance with the facility standards and policies regarding risk management, safety, infection control, etc. Performs job functions adhering to service principles with customer service focus of innovation, service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients, families, co-workers and others.

Certificates License Registrations; Basic Life Support Certification Required

Education and/or Experience  Associate’s Degree in related health field or 1-2 years experience in mental health.  Must be able to work as part of multidisciplinary team.  

Group facilitation experience a plus.

Required Job Specific Training:  De-Escalation training within 90 days of hire.
