Performs active milieu assessment while assigned to safety rounds. Identifies patient behaviors that contribute to development of a crisis; utilizes non-verbal and verbal techniques to de-escalate crisis situations. Provides direct patient care and monitors ongoing status Observes and documents patient information pertinent to patient’s condition per policy. Initiates and maintains a therapeutic relationship with patients. Participates in the safe management of the milieu, intervening effectively with patients who behave inappropriately or who are having coping difficulty, utilizing effective non-abusive crisis prevention/intervention techniques. Performs work in accordance with the facility standards and policies regarding risk management, safety, infection control, etc. Performs job functions adhering to service principles with customer service focus of innovation, service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients, families, co-workers and others.
Certificates License Registrations; Basic Life Support Certification Required
Education and/or Experience Associate’s Degree in related health field or 1-2 years experience in mental health. Must be able to work as part of multidisciplinary team.
Group facilitation experience a plus.
Required Job Specific Training: De-Escalation training within 90 days of hire.
