Behavioral Health Clinician Per Diem, Overlook Medical Center

Responsible for coordinating clinical services, and providing ongoing individual/ group counseling, screening for human trafficking concerns, and crisis intervention.

1. Provides sound clinical intervention.

2. Demonstrates knowledge and proper use of DSM-V diagnoses.

3. Conducts a thorough psychosocial evaluation.

4. Consistently respects patient’s right to confidentiality and obtains appropriate consents.

5. Exercises the ability to draw conclusions, interpret results and recommend actions.

6. Manage time effectively/sets priorities appropriately.

7. Conducts therapeutic groups appropriate to patient’s level of functioning.

8. Demonstrates effective interviewing skills and ability to establish positive rapport with patients

and families.

9. Documents in a clear, timely and concise manner which accurately reflects patients’ condition

and treatment goals.

10. Reports pertinent observations regarding patients to nurses, psychiatrists, health care team

members and family, as appropriate.

11. Employs appropriate, as needed, 1:1 patient and family contact.

12. Effectively and efficiently assist with facilitating inpatient admissions.

13. Provide warm hand off to outpatient levels of care when appropriate.

14. Provides education consistent with the patient/family’s learning abilities and preferences;

evaluates outcomes.

15. Implements and facilitates after care plans, including making referrals to the appropriate level of

care and providing patient’s and family with information about post-hospital options.

16. Accurately completes the age-appropriate assessment documents.

17. Appropriately assesses patient’s level of dangerousness and initiates intervention accordingly.

18. Demonstrates competency in assessing for suicidality / dangerous behavior.

19. Participates in treatment planning meetings and implements and facilitates treatment plan.

20. Practices Universal Standard Precautions.

21. Demonstrated knowledge of and practices department safety procedures, including safe handling

of equipment and hazardous substances.

22. Verbalizes hospital-wide quality improvement projects.

23. Verbalizes unit specific quality improvement projects.

24. Participates in performance improvement initiatives as needed.
