Behavior Specialist Niagara Charter School 2077 Lockport Road Niagara Falls , NY 14304 Certified - Teaching - Other Job Number 3300053530 Start Date Open Date 09/22/2025 Closing Date 10/10/2025 Behavioral Specialist (K-6) Location: Niagara Charter School • Department: Student Support • Reports to: [Principal/Stonger Connections Coordinator] Position Type: Temporary Full-time Grant Position October 2025-September 2026 (with summer days as needed) Position Summary Niagara Charter School seeks a student-centered Behavioral Specialist to strengthen positive school culture and support K-6 students through Restorative Practices and PBIS within a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS). The specialist will coach staff, lead targeted interventions, conduct observations and assessments, and coordinate plans that increase engagement, reduce exclusionary discipline, and help students build durable social-emotional skills. Key Responsibilities + Schoolwide culture & Tier 1 + Coach teachers on PBIS routines , classroom management, and restorative approaches (community circles, restorative conversations). + Analyze behavior/culture data to identify trends and recommend schoolwide supports. + Help design and deliver staff PD and quick coaching cycles. + Targeted & intensive supports (Tiers 2-3) + Coordinate and monitor Tier 2 interventions (e.g., Check-In/Check-Out , social skills groups, mentoring). + Conduct classroom and common-area observations , ABC data collection, and Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) . + Develop, implement, and progress-monitor Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) in collaboration with teachers, related service providers, and families. + Provide in-the-moment de-escalation and crisis response using safe, trauma-informed practices. + Restorative responses & family partnership + Facilitate restorative conferences/circles following conflicts; document agreements and follow-up. + Communicate proactively with families; provide resources and coaching to support consistency between home and school. + Collaboration & compliance + Partner with Special Education, Counseling, and Administration to align supports with IEPs/504 plans. + Maintain accurate, confidential records; contribute to MTSS/Student Support Team meetings with clear data and action steps. Qualifications Required + Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, social work, behavior analysis, or related field. + Demonstrated experience supporting student behavior in elementary (K-6) settings. + Working knowledge of PBIS and/or Restorative Practices and trauma-informed approaches. + Skill with data-driven problem solving and progress monitoring. + Strong coaching, communication, and relationship-building skills with students, staff, and families. Preferred + Master's degree; certification/licensure (e.g., BCBA , LCSW, School Psychologist) a plus. + Training/certification in crisis prevention/intervention (e.g., CPI/TCI ). + Experience conducting FBAs and writing BIPs . + Familiarity with MTSS , SEL curricula, and collaborative consultation.
