ROLE DESCRIPTION 
As Nautical Manager Locks & Docks you will be part of the Nautical Service Center (NSC) team and you will reporting to the Lead of the Locks and Docks Manager. 
In this role you will supporting a fleet of over 70 river ships in Europe, you will manage docking operations and consumable bookings according to agreed pricing, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted operations. The role involves close cooperation with port authorities, corporate and ship captains, the land operations team, finance, and infrastructure. You may also support the scheduling department during weekend duties.
The role is based in Basel, Switzerland in our Operational Head Office in Basel, and requires travelling on a need basis for about 10-20% of the time.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Ensuring on-time deployment bookings
•    Securing alternative ports during deviations and communicating changes promptly
•    Organizing scheduled consumable bookings for the fleet
•    Managing the Locks & Docks budget, ensuring SOC compliance
•    Overseeing timely and accurate vendor payments in cooperation with finance

 

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

•    Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions
•    Proactive and clear communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
•    Collaborative team player with a flexible, open-minded approach
•    Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, and Power BI
•    Excellent command of English and German; French is an asset
•    Experience with port booking tools such as MXP, LeNeTec, and CruiseDock
•    Equivalent relevant professional experience in nautical crew planning or maritime operations
•    Relevant professional certifications (e.g., crew management, nautical operations, maritime logistics) with substantial related experience may be considered in lieu of formal education


EDUCATION
•    Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Maritime Management, Nautical Sciences, Logistics, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience in nautical crew planning or maritime operations
