The employee is occasionally required to use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.The person in this role may be exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently.

Expected Hours of Work

Must be flexible to work variable days of the week to include weekends and holidays.Must be flexible to work variable shifts (days, nights, overnights).Ten to twelve hour shifts sometimes required.

Principle duties and responsibilities (Essential Functions) include: 

Train servers in all aspects of banquet serviceServe as the primary point of contact for guests and event organizers.Maintain discipline in function roomsMust coordinate and time functions to ensure quality of foodAdhere to Royal Sonesta standardsManage subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of employees in the BanquetResponsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of unitsDeliver Passionate & Engaging Service to our GuestsYou will be passionate and truly engaged in taking care of our guests, recognizing individual guests and anticipating their unique needs in order to exceed their expectationsYou will consistently deliver our GUEST model:Greet or welcome everyone, warmly with a smileUse eye and ear contact and guest’s nameEstablish/anticipate needsSolve and own all requests/complaintsThank everyoneBuild solid relationship with your ColleaguesTreat colleagues with respect and dignityOther duties and responsibilities may be assigned.The employee is expected to work in other areas of the hotel when needed to assist operations to perform job duties not necessarily contained in this job description.

Qualifications and Skills:

A candidate for this position must possess the following applicable knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to demonstrate and provide applicable examples to support his/her competency.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education andexperienceAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsAbility to write routine reports and correspondenceAbility to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizationMust have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in banquet or related professional area.Experience in a hotel or a hospitality-related field preferred.

        Basic knowledge in these programs is necessary for general office tasks:

Excel: Used to create and manage spreadsheets for inventory counts, event budgets, and staff schedules.Word: Used for preparing simple correspondence, internal memos, and reports.Outlook: A primary tool for managing emails and communicating with managers, event planners, and clients.

       Point-of-sale (POS) systems: Must be knowledgeable in the restaurant's POS system (such as Info Genesis or Micros) to process transactions for bar services and any last-minute guest charges.

Additional Job Information/Anticipated

Pay Range

$14.50-$15.50 hourly. Base pay offered may vary depending on various factors including but not limited to job related knowledge, skills and job specific experience/overall experience.
