Banking Services Analyst IV - IPDS
Overview:

Provide support to the line and department managers of the Deposit & Payment Services (DPS) Center of Excellence (COE).   The type of support required includes development of new and maintenance of existing reporting/dashboards that aid management in reviewing historical performance and in making forward-looking decisions for their teams.  Support can also include various ad hoc requests for analysis or reporting to assist management in identifying operational efficiencies or to solve a specific problem.  The analyst should be able to work independently and be able to communicate well with multiple levels of management.

Primary Responsibilities:Develop custom reports and dashboards in Power BI or Excel to support line and department managers; reporting can be as simple as trending volume and quality metrics or calculating period comparisons and variances to plan and as complex as connecting multiple data sources to report on employee performance on operational tasks.Use business intelligence software (i.e. Power BI) where appropriate to enhance existing and/or develop new reporting.  The analyst should ask probing questions to ensure full understanding of the requirements as well as the end users and determine if the final output should be a report or a tool or both. Utilize data analytics tools like Alteryx to combine, aggregate and clean unstructured data into a format that allows for reporting and visualization.  Further explore the use of these tools to add efficiencies to existing operational processes.Work with appropriate teams outside of D&PS to understand data sources and how they can be utilized to develop or enhance reporting for D&PS management.Complete regular and ad hoc analyses, ranging from simple to complex, with minimal to no supervision; examples may include measuring performance to service level agreements, financial forecasting/expense management, analyzing opportunities to add efficiency to a process and helping to predict future volume/staffing needs.Develop strong working relationships with line and department managers in the COE to support their reporting and analytics needs; this includes asking probing questions to fully understand their need for support and customizing your approach to deliver results.Present and communicate results to management; determine best tool for final deliverables (i.e. Excel, PDF, Power BI, PowerPoint, etc.) and tailor communication as appropriate based on audience.Understand and adhere to department timelines and deliverables for regular and ad hoc tasks; this includes prioritizing requests based on capacity and need and setting expectations appropriately for managers/business partners.Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.  Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable. Complete other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years’ related experience,

OR in lieu of a degree,

A combined minimum of 7 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 3 years’ related experience

Strong analytical skills

Strong organizational skills

Proficiency with personal computers as well as pertinent word processing and spreadsheet software

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Education and Experience Preferred:

3+ years of experience creating detailed management reporting and/or dashboards

Advanced problem-solving skills

Expert level of experience using BI tools like Power BI or Tableau

Intermediate to expert level of knowledge/experience using data analytics tools like Alteryx or SAS

Experience querying and using data in Snowflake

Experience using mainframe and/or web viewer reports

Experience working in or with back-office operational functions like Payment Processing (ACH, Wire, Check, Zelle/RTP), Lockbox Processing, Account Maintenance, Document Imaging, Cash Vault Services, etc.

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $71,985.72 - $119,976.20 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
