The Band Teacher must be able to teach brass and wind individual instruments, as well as to lead groups in preparation for music performances during the school year. Lesson planning, selecting songs for school events, rehearsals, logistical planning, meeting and communicating with the other music teachers to plan school-wide performances such as Christmas and Spring Concerts. 4th and 5th grade beginning band - each grade level meets twice a week Middle School Band - meets twice a week Responsible for training students in the Statement of Faith of Calvary Church and the development, implementation, and assessment of the Calvary Christian School curriculum. Qualifications (Personal and Professional) An intimate and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Live a life above reproach (consistent with I Timothy 3:1-7). Strong relational skills including but not limited to: Being a team player Showing sensitivity with a heart of compassion Having a warm and friendly personality in all interactions Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills, computer proficiency and organizational ability.

Job Description

I.  Position Title: Elementary & Middle School Teacher

II.  Required Qualifications

Multiple Subject Credential An intimate and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Strong teaching ability; enjoys working with children Excellent verbal and written skills, as well as outstanding interpersonal skills. Ability to work well with students, parents and other adults; willingness to be an active, enthusiastic member of the CCS community. Obvious passion for the academic subject matter being taught. Commitment to equity and inclusion. Willingness to adapt to an existing curriculum as well as contribute ideas to enhance the respective academic programs.

II.  Summary of Position:

Elementary & Middle School Teachers are assigned by grade level at the discretion of the Head of School.  It is the intention of school leadership to place each faculty member in an assignment that is the most compatible with the teacher’s training and experience.  The following are some of the teacher’s major responsibilities:

a.            Teach regularly scheduled classes as assigned by administration.

b.           To be responsible for the academic, social, and spiritual development of each student in his/her class.

c.            To demonstrate knowledge in the curriculum and teaching methodology for the assigned area.

d.           To establish and carry out an effective classroom management plan.

e.            To effectively plan units of study, course outlines, and scope and sequence, in order to ensure student development and understanding.

f.             To maintain adequate records of attendance and grades, to meet the demands of the state, school administrators, and one’s own need for a knowledge of student progress.

g.            Work closely with grade level team members in establishing plans and goals, as well as needed coordination, in order to verify adequate coverage and to utilize the resources of the total team.

h.           To be in regular attendance at faculty meetings, back to school meetings, PTF meetings, educational workshops, ACSI convention, and any other meetings as assigned by school administration.

i.             To work cooperatively with school leadership in order to establish the most effective educational team possible.

j.             To be constantly open to growth as an educator, as well as finding educational materials, beyond the scope of the textbook, that will both interest and challenge students.

k.           To utilize community resources both inside and outside of the classroom.

IV. Conditions for Employment

Available to fulfill the identified work schedule and hours.
