Bakery Manager
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Customer Service & Sales Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on fast, friendly service. Assist customers by making product suggestions, filling special orders, and offering food preparation recommendations. Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via telephone, in‑store intercom, and direct interaction. Answer and respond to incoming calls; resolve customer complaints and escalate to Store Director when necessary. Bakery Operations & Merchandising Oversee and assist with all department duties, including preparation, packaging, and product display. Implement proper and efficient product preparation and packaging techniques according to company standards. Maintain bakery case cleanliness, visual appeal, accurate inventory levels, and proper product rotation. Build and maintain promotional and seasonal displays. Ensure all department areas, equipment, and tools are clean, sanitized, and maintained for a safe work environment. Ensure temperatures are maintained for all phases of preparation, storage, and display. Follow and maintain all opening and closing procedures. Employee Leadership & Training Schedule, supervise, train, and assign duties to department employees to ensure adequate staffing and service levels. Train employees on store policies, sales processes, safety, and record‑keeping procedures. Identify and develop high‑potential employees for advancement opportunities. Monitor employee productivity and evaluate overall performance. Initiate personnel actions including interviews, transfers, promotions, and disciplinary actions. Maintain working knowledge of policies outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook. Inventory, Receiving & Reporting Control inventory to ensure adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness in alignment with division directives. Stock, rotate, organize, and maintain product in the cooler and freezer. Perform receiving duties: break down loads, verify invoices, inspect product quality, report shortages, rotate stock, and follow proper storage and temperature guidelines. Prepare sales and inventory reports; conduct physical inventory every 4 weeks. Maintain accurate department records and process administrative paperwork. Complete and monitor daily log sheets, Production Charts, Sales & Labor documentation, and all required logs. Control shrink and cost through proper rotation, handling, and production practices. Safety, Sanitation & Compliance Ensure compliance with workplace safety rules, retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, company policies, and code‑dating standards. Maintain safety, cleanliness, and sanitation of the sales floor, work area, freezer, cooler, prep area, equipment, and display areas. Ensure proper temperature maintenance, product signage, and accurate pricing. Implement emergency procedures in the event of equipment or software malfunctions. Ensure employee compliance with company grooming and dress code standards. Perform all duties safely, accurately, and with honesty and integrity. Other Attend and participate in sales meetings; communicate goals, performance updates, and sales opportunities to employees. Perform other necessary and required duties as assigned.
