Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the Senior Software Engineering in the API chapter at Scotiabank Peru ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Accountabilities

Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge. Conceptualize and design customer-centric software, developing key technical capabilities while optimizing value delivery, with a keen sense of software craftsmanship and customer experience. Go deep in software modeling, patterns, share and reuse. Design and development of backend software components and services that leverage and extend digital capabilities and support world-class digital experiences. Develop high quality, maintainable and evolvable software, caring for key software metrics and assuring proper testability and testing coverage. Follow, develop and promote secure coding practices, being aware of potential security vulnerabilities and guarding from them. Take operational ownership for the software you build and support. Work with multidisciplinary teams to solve major incidents, improve SLOs and guarantee a world-class customer experience. Note this may require working outside office hours on occasion. Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk. Build backend microservices and APIs that enable user experiences, domain logic, create reusable components, and take part of the development of our next generation platforms. You use technologies like Java, Javascript, Spring, Node.js, SQL, Redis, Kafka, Kubernetes, Cloud Foundry and Gradle, are highly skilled in software engineering and computer science, and love to learn and co-create with multidisciplinary teams. Champions a high performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.

Impact:

Leads technical decisions, coaching and issue resolution  for a 2-4 member technical team (Scotiabankers and contractors) in an specific team or squad. Operational joint accountability for team or squad. Impact on 100K to 1MM clients or more. Impact on 100K to 3MM monetary transactions a year or more. Impact on 10% to 50% of retail sales for a product line in the Bank. Ownership for pulse and metric impact for security, availability or data loss incidents, for her scope and derived impact on the rest of the bank. Scope may include Scotiabank Peru and Crediscotia Financiera, and other entities in Scotiabank Group.

 

 

Education, Experience and Skills

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field. Typically 3-5 years of industry experience.
