The Cloud and Connectivity organization is actively looking for an Azure Platform Engineer to join them. Do you like to solve challenges and have an interest in large scale impact? Job Summary:
You will work in Azure services including Azure DB PaaS, Data Factory, Key Vault and etc. Goals will be to help qualify Azure Services and create CI/CD pipeline to provision the service.
This role will have the opportunity to work with Azure PaaS/IaaS services. Our goal is to improve service qualification and management through automation in enterprise level.
Also responsible to manage cost effective cloud environments, you need make sure we follow the Lilly security standards while qualifying and automating the services.
In this role, you will work closely with Lilly SMEs and Cloud Infrastructure hosting teams to bring enhancements and automation scopes in the system. You need to improve the security of the system by performing the vulnerabilities scanings and fixing them based the output.
Job Responsibilities:
Design and Implement CI/CD Pipelines: Build and maintain end-to-end CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins. Automate build, test, and deployment workflows for microservices, APIs, and enterprise applications.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Development: Write and maintain Bicep, ARM templates, or Terraform to automate infrastructure provisioning. Apply modular and reusable code practices for cloud infrastructure deployment. Support multi-environment deployments (Dev, QA, Prod) with parameterized templates.
Azure Cloud Infrastructure Provisioning: Provision and manage Azure resources (VMs, SQL/NoSQL Databases, Key Vaults, Storage Accounts, Azure Data Factory, etc). Implement high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) strategies. Configure scaling and auto-healing for services. Follow cloud Cost-optimization approach.
Source Code Management & Version Control: Manage Git repositories and branching strategies (GitFlow, trunk-based development). Enforce pull request (PR) approvals, code reviews, and quality gates. Secure GitHub repos using GitHub advanced security.
Monitoring, Logging & Observability: Set up Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Log Analytics, and Prometheus/Grafana for observability. Define alerting rules and dashboards for performance and availability. Ensure end-to-end monitoring of infrastructure, applications, and pipelines
Security, Identity, and Compliance:Manage RBAC, Azure AD roles, and identity management for DevOps workflows. Integrate Azure Key Vault for secrets, certificates, and credential management. Conduct vulnerability assessments and remediation. Ensure compliance with company-specific policies.
Automation and Scripting: Automate routine tasks using PowerShell, Bash, or Python scripts. Standardize repeatable operations into runbooks/ Kusto Query. Create automation for Service provisioning and management through self-service portal.
Collaboration with Lilly SMEs & Platform Teams: Partner with Lilly SMEs to optimize build pipeline, creating automation scopes and ensure smooth deployments. Work with Azure Platform team to get the infrastructure setup based on the need.
Performance Optimization and Scalability: Continuously analyze pipeline efficiency, system performance, and cost usage. Implement horizontal/vertical scaling strategies
Incident Response, Troubleshooting, Operational Support and RCA: Provide L2/L3 operational support for cloud and DevOps environments. Troubleshoot pipeline failures, deployment issues, and infrastructure outages. Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures. Provide timely and effective support to customers on an as-needed basis. Address and resolve technical issues, ensuring minimal disruption to services.
Governance, Policy Enforcement & Cost Management: Implement tagging standards for cost tracking and environment segregation. Use Azure Cost Management and Advisor to recommend optimizations.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Stay updated with emerging DevOps tools, cloud features, and automation techniques. Champion a culture of automation, reliability, and efficiency.
Knowledge Sharing, Training & Documentation: Maintain detailed runbooks, architecture diagrams, deployment documentation, and SOPs. Conduct brown-bag sessions/workshops to improve team adoption of DevOps practices.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to handle complex technical challenges.
Proven leadership and team management experience, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to prioritize, multitask, Interest in upskilling
and work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Your Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree in information technology or equivalent experience.
5-15+ years of experience as an Azure Platform Engineer or DevOps engineer in enterprise environment with relevant experience in Automation, Scripting and CICD pipeline creation and management.
Additional Skills/requirements:
Strong knowledge of Azure IaaS, PaaS, Networking, Storage, Policies, and Governance services.
Must have experience with GitHub Actions, Jenkins and Terraform.
Must have experience with Power Shell, Azure CLI, YAML and Bicep.
Strong knowledge in Azure backup, Azure functions, Azure monitor, Log analytics and Kusto Query
Must have experience with Git Repos.
Must have experience with Encryption and Azure Key Vault.
Tickets handling with Service Now or any other ticketing tools.
Expertise in Documentations for maintaining Security/CSQA standards.
Desirable Skills:
Experience in On-prem Databases (SQL/ Oracle) and Agentic AI is an additional advantage.
Experience in project management methodologies (like Agile or Scrum) will be added advantage.
