We are looking for an Associate to join the EMEA Real Estate Sustainability & Impact team in London to focus on the integration of sustainability initiatives and practices throughout the real estate lifecycle. The successful candidate will join a team responsible for managing the Real Estate team’s Sustainability & Impact (S&I) Framework, including driving value creation, capital raising and asset resilience, while reporting to various internal and external stakeholders. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage ESG-related activities for the EMEA real estate book, including acquisition due diligence, strategy and target setting, project management of value creation initiatives, fund positioning, compliance, and performance reporting.Be a subject matter expert in real estate ESG. Conduct S&I research including understanding current and future market dynamics, competitor activities, client needs, and ESG-related investment value drivers. Monitor and manage implementation of S&I frameworks across real estate investmentsWork closely with the acquisition and asset management teams to identify, implement and track value accretive asset-specific S&I initiatives both during the deal underwriting process and throughout the ownership periodCreate, maintain and share a well-substantiated view on the business case for S&I that speaks to different stakeholders groupsCollaborate with internal stakeholders to advance S&I objectives, gain approval of new programs, and ensure execution of S&I priorities. This includes working cross divisionally with legal, compliance and other federation teams to make process revisions, modifications to legal docs, create/amend policies and agreements.Own external relationships with vendors that enable the S&I program to scale. Host introductory vendor meetings to assess fit.Plan and execute ongoing training, workshop, market updates and education sessions for internal and external stakeholders to expand understanding of relevant S&I topics; this includes identifying topics, organizing speakers, coordinating scheduling, and, as needed, creating draft presentation materialsMaintain an organized S&I resource library; including version control of tools and resources 

 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Several years of professional experience with strong exposure to preferably both the S&I and real estate sectorsGood understanding of common real estate related sustainability standards and topics, and their practical application (CRREM, BREEAM, EPC, GRESB etc.)Knowledge of major European ESG standards and trends (TCFD, SFDR, TNFD etc.)Effective and responsive communication with the ability to manage internal and external relationships, and influence decision makingStakeholder engagement and project management experience Strong written and verbal communication Experience creating presentation materials and applying a creative lens to ensure material is concise, informative, and engaging Experience creating and maintaining data and process management Excel spreadsheets, or equivalent Highly organized and self-motivated, with close attention to detail Ability to prioritize workload and proactively manage own tasks within tight timeframes and across competing demands
