Animal Emergency Hospital in Bel Air, MD is excited to welcome an Avian & Exotics Veterinary Specialist to our team of dedicated emergency clinicians! This is a rare opportunity to shape and grow an exotics program within a well-established, 24-hour emergency and critical care hospital.
Why You’ll Love This Role Build Your Vision: We have strong demand for exotics care from local primary care veterinarians and will invest in the equipment, supplies, and training you need. Mentorship & Collaboration: Our team includes technicians and assistants with exotics experience, plus nearby exotics specialists eager to provide mentorship. Variety in Your Caseload: Treat dogs, cats, and a fascinating range of exotic species. Wildlife & Volunteer Opportunities: Partner with local animal control for wildlife care, or volunteer at the nearby Maryland Zoo or Plumpton Park Zoo. Schedule Flexibility: Ideal candidates can work mid-shift or rotate overnights, but we’re open to discussion. About You We welcome residency-trained, board-certified, or experienced exotics veterinarians (no certification required). What matters most is your skill, adaptability, and passion for elevating exotic animal care.
Compensation & Benefits Base salary $180,000–$200,000 (depending on experience) Base salary model only at start, with potential to move to ProSal in the future Comprehensive benefits package, CE allowance, and more About Our Hospital Our modern 15,000 sq ft facility offers:8 exam rooms, 2 surgical suites, cat-only room, separate dog/cat isolation wards In-house lab, endoscopy, digital radiography, ultrasound, ventilators, oxygen cages, neonatal incubators ForceTriad/Ligasure surgical equipment Large ICU and quiet doctor’s office spaces Spacious, organized design focused on patient, client, and team comfort Regular in-house CE in our conference and wet lab spaces Fun, team-focused culture with outings, celebrations, and Employee Pet Wellness Days Join Us At Animal Emergency Hospital, we’re more than colleagues — we’re family.
