General Summary:

Qualcomm’s central Platform Architecture team defines common platform architectures & architecture features enabling the next-generation of system-on-chip (SoC) products across Qualcomm’s business lines.  One of the most dynamic of these is Qualcomm’s Automotive business line, comprising In-vehicle Infotainment (IVI), the Digital Cockpit, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), and Autonomous Driving (AD).   Our Automotive Platform Architect role offers qualified candidates the opportunity to broadly influence the development of the SoC architecture for this fast-growing business.

Description:

A successful candidate will engage collaboratively across Qualcomm’s core SoC Hardware, Software, Product Management teams, and with the Automotive Business Unit to develop scalable and reusable SoC architecture & features enabling efficient development of market leading SoC products for the Automotive business line.  The candidate will have the opportunity to understand the long term SoC architecture needs and roadmap for Automotive SoCs providing for In-vehicle Infotainment (IVI), the Digital Cockpit, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), and Autonomous Driving (AD).  This role will be in a highly visible position with an excellent opportunity to influence Qualcomm's technical direction, transform the Automotive SoC industry, and change the world!

Possible assignments depending on need, experience, and skills:

Engage with the Automotive Business Unit engineering leadership, product management, and product planning teams to understand the product strategy, roadmap, and technology needs.

Translate product requirements into platform architecture requirements, encompassing hardware, software, SoC, and other components.

Define how the Automotive SoCs fit into the set of overall Qualcomm SoC architecture platforms, and enhance these platforms as necessary to address Automotive needs.

Work proactively across Qualcomm’s architecture and core technology teams to ensure a roadmap of architecture platforms and technology feature development supporting the needs of Automotive SoCs.

Evaluate architecture proposals, internal and external core IP and component suppliers.

Represent Qualcomm with high technical credibility in customer meetings, appropriately incorporating feedback.

Work closely with the Automotive Business Unit architecture, hardware, and software technical teams to invent and provide high-level engineering solutions to their architecture & technical challenges.

Create high level architecture specifications as required to enable core and SoC engineering teams to design, verify, test, and productize SoCs for the Automotive IVI, Digital Cockpit, and AD/ADAS markets.

Provide influential and inspirational leadership across hardware, software, and SoC organizations to align all parties to a common vision of architecture & technology development.

Design experiments and analyses to answer architectural questions, and invent, develop, or drive the development of simulators, models, profilers, and other methods and tools as necessary to execute the analyses.

Communicate results and technical concepts clearly and credibly across audiences ranging from individual unit hardware or software engineers to architecture community peers, to high level business executives.

Invent and file patents on technical solutions to relevant problems.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

Work Experience

20+ years work experience in the SoC HW VLSI design/validation domains of which at least 7 years on SoC Architecture

7+ years SoC Architecture, System Architecture, Systems Engineering, or related work experience

Preferred Qualifications :

Master degree in Electrical/Electronics engineering

Operating Systems (e.g., Linux)

Real-time Systems (e.g., Linux-RT, QNX, RTOS)

Arm CPU architecture (e.g., Cortex-A, Cortex-R)

Microcontroller (MCUs) and electronic control unit (ECUs) architecture

Gateways & Networking (e.g., Ethernet, CAN)

Memory architecture (e.g., LPDDRx)

Storage architecture (e.g., NANDFlash, NORFlash, SPI)

Machine Learning (e.g., CNNs, Computer Vision)

Auto Interface architecture like Ethernet, CAN, LIN, PCIe, DDR, SPI

Auto qualification methodology

- System BIST architecture

- Deep understanding on Auto use cases and mapping them to HW and SW

Skills:

HW Engineering and technology, Caches, DSP Architectures, Machine Learning, Memory Management, Microprocessor Systems Design

Minimum Qualifications:

•    Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 8+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 7+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
