Join us in developing treatments, finding cures, and pioneering the path from lab to life while championing patients every step of the way. **Learn more at** **https://www.jnj.com/innovative-medicine** **We are searching for the best talent for an Automation Operations Scientist role to be in Malvern, PA.** **Purpose:** The Laboratory Automation & Robotics team is recruiting an Automation Operations Scientist to support the development, optimization, and implementation of end-to-end automated workflows to drive high-throughput analytics for therapeutic proteins and cell therapy pipelines. You will leverage scientific and robotic systems experience to support the implementation of laboratory automation workcell solutions for various therapeutic proteins and cell therapy analytical workflows, such as antigen binding, chromatography, molecular, cell-based, and flow cytometry. You will collaborate with multiple teams including Assay Automation, Integrations, Orchestration, Assay Development, Data Science, IT, and end-users to support hands-free automation implementation. You will play an integral role in improving sample throughput/capacity while reducing hands-on time, time-to-result, repetitive strain, and assay variability. **You will be responsible for:** · Collaboration with automation team members to manage liquid handling workstations or integrated systems · Cross-functional collaboration with teams/department throughout J&J as part of the development, qualification, and transfer of automated assay methods/solutions · Assisting with planning and documentation (protocols, reports, etc) of automated assay qualification, validation, and transfer · Management of vendor communications as needed for building, install, and maintenance of automated assay methods/solutions · Support of technical investigations to resolve automation issues · Collaborate to design and develop automated assay solutions/methods on various laboratory automation or integrated systems · Ensuring the maintenance of laboratory notebooks and detailed records in compliance with applicable GxP, safety, and environmental requirements · Ensuring data integrity through the accurate and timely data capture and entry into appropriate systems · Leading or facilitating the authoring of protocols, work instructions, SOPs, or presentations · Maintaining and/or contributing to a project and/or program schedule, following up with teams to stay on track, and identifying risks that may arise throughout the process **Qualifications / Requirements:** **Education:** · A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Biology or equivalent is required **Required:** · A minimum of 3 years of experience working in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical company is required · Ability to identify/understand complex needs and help design solutions for laboratory workflows · Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers · Experience and proficiency with computer systems, such as MS Office Suite, Adobe, & project management tools, as well as the ability to quickly learn new programs and systems · Experience with technical troubleshooting, creative thinking, and root cause analysis to identify and develop solutions to challenging problems · Experience working independently with minimum supervision to meet tight deadlines · Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and liaising with scientists, vendors, and external collaborators · Strong organizational skills, ideally for projects with many moving parts and players **Preferred:** · Hands-on experience with biological and biochemical analytical techniques such as cell-based assays, immunoassays, qPCR, or chromatography · Experience with laboratory automation equipment · Experience executing evaluation and implementation of new and novel technologies is desirable · Experience with analytical method development or sample testing is desirable Johnson & Johnson is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
