Position Overview

Shaw Industries is hiring an Automation Maintenance Process Engineer to support of all maintenance activies with a strong emphasis on safety, cost control, and operational efficiency. This role operates independently while partnering closely with both Maintenance and Operations teams. Key responsibilities include developing and improving maintenance documentation such as Preventive Maintenance (PM) tasks, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO). The engineer provides technical support for electrical and control systems, including advanced troubleshooting of PLCs, HMIs, sensors, VFDs, and industrial networks. The engineer is responsible for modifying PLC logic, developing HMI screens, and supporting commissioning of new control systems. The position helps drive root cause analysis for recurring electrical issues and supports efforts to improve equipment reliability through automation enhancements. Essential Duties:  

Comply with procedures found in SMS and Job Requirement Books. Perform other duties as assigned by Department Manager.  Manage Site PdM efforts including maintaining PdM database.  Complete capital and expense projects as assigned by Plant Engineer.  Manage MARS work order system and HQMS for the Maintenance Department. (Administrator Role).  Lead effort to organize and maintain the Engineering drawings.  Lead effort to document TPM metrics.  Serve as a troubleshooting resource for Plant equipment.  Develop and maintain Preventive Maintenance (PM) records for operating areas.  Manages the scheduling of the PM’s with the operating area leadership.  Manages the process of keeping an adequate supply of critical spare parts. Initiate outside service purchase requisitions and coordinate execution with contractors for such items as component repairs, on-site maintenance, equipment cleaning, etc.  Attend weekly scheduling meetings in each operating area.  Serve on 6 Sigma, quality, safety, and Maintenance teams as required. Assist in training efforts of area personnel through procedure writing/modifications, conducting sessions, bringing in outside resources, purchasing training materials and equipment, etc.  With the HS&E department and Maintenance leadership, investigate improvements in personal protective equipment (PPE). Ensure safety and departmental policies and procedures are followed.  Lead effort to identify standard work and establish tiered communications for Maintenance Associates.  Work with operators to identify unsafe acts and conditions.  Support reward and recognition program based on criteria related to safety, quality and productivity.  Actively support and participate in the implementation of SQS, TPM.  Actively support and participate in achieving SAFE certification. Work with the Maintenance Planner and Supervisors to ensure the Maintenance Department is following the TPM process.  Drive the energy reduction efforts of the plant.  Manage building automation systems.  Create and maintain PM’s and operating procedures for utility equipment.
