Job Description We are looking for an Automation Lead to join our team in Ballytivnan, Sligo. This is an exciting opportunity as the site continues to grow, and we progress projects to advance our plans to become a Factory of the Future. The position reports to the Engineering Manager. As the Automation Lead, you will lead, supervise, coach and mentor a team of automation engineers. You will be responsible for providing technical leadership and control of all control system activities on our pharmaceutical manufacturing site in Ballytivnan. Roles and Responsibilities + Lead and control all control system activities in the pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. + Supervise, lead and mentor a team of automation and control system professionals. + Provide technical support to all control system related issues. Tasks include daily trouble shooting, optimisation, and documentation control. + Lead control system validation activities during project start-up phase where applicable. + Life cycle management of the onsite control systems, to GAMP-5 requirements. + Project manage control system elements of continuous improvement projects. Collaborate closely with process engineers/ technical support chemists and other departments to deliver these continuous improvement projects. + Project manage and develop future integrations of the control systems, with planned MIS and ERP systems. + Manage departmental budget as delegated by the Engineering Manager. + Adhere to and support all EHS & E standards, procedures, and policies. + Front audits by HPRA/FDA or customers on Control Systems. + Define proposals for long-term plans for control system maintenance and improvements for management. Qualifications + B. Sc or B. Eng Degree or Post Graduate Diploma in a relevant technical subject area. + 6+ years experience in process automation, with relevant experience of batch processing and automation platforms in a GMP environment in the pharmaceutical or related industry. + Strong knowledge of the 21 CFR Part 11 and EU Annex 11 requirements for automated systems in the pharmaceutical industry. + Experience of plant start-ups and/or new product introductions to pharmaceutical facilities with experience leading these activities in a start-up environment. + Strong knowledge and experience of configuring and troubleshooting complex equipment control systems including PLC systems, and SCADA/HMI applications. + Knowledge and experience control system networks.. + Knowledge and experience of Ethernet based networks, and network architecture models. + Knowledge and experience of interfacing systems with plant historians such as OSI-PI using OPC interfaces + Knowledge and experience of the life cycle management of control systems, including backup, recovery, user access controls, configuration management and change management. + Knowledge and experience of Windows operating system administration.
