Job Description
Join our dynamic team as a Power Distribution Design Engineer, where you will play a pivotal role in executing work orders for the design of power distribution infrastructure while ensuring adherence to quality, time, and budget constraints. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the Make Ready and Joint Use engineering and design work, supporting major utility providers.
ResponsibilitiesExecute work orders for the design of power distribution infrastructure, meeting quality, time, and budget constraints.Perform end-to-end Make-Ready/Joint-use and general distribution design, applying established design guidelines, processes, and procedures.Conduct pole loading analysis, review field data, perform data entry, and complete design and construction prints.Utilize Open Utilities software for design, based on Microstation/Autocad, and PoleForeman software for pole analysis.Develop detailed design prints using CAD software, ensuring compliance with National Electric Safety Codes (NESC).Essential SkillsAssociates Degree or Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.Experience with Microstation, Autocad, and utility design.Knowledge of utility infrastructure, pole installation, clearances, transformers, distribution lines, and down guys.Proficiency in ESRI or ArcGIS software mapping tools.Additional Skills & QualificationsDirect experience in utility or distribution or make ready or joint use work.Understanding of LVD low voltage distribution and joint use experience.Entry-level candidates with a degree in design or related field may be considered.Work Environment
This role is initially contract-based with the potential to transition to a direct position after nine months. Daily reporting to the office in Livonia is required. Upon consistent delivery of quality construction packages, flexible work arrangements, including a hybrid work week, may be accommodated. The company is experiencing significant growth and is preparing to move into a new, state-of-the-art building in Northville. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $29.00/hr.
