We're looking for Attorneys to join our DCFS team. The selected candidate(s) will operate with considerable independence and must exercise discretion and judgement in evaluating complex cases. Minimum Qualifications Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice law. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: + Prepare and try civil suits in court. + Reviews and approves legal documents and responds to issues needing legal opinion and or clarification concerning various administrative concerns within the department. + Gives advice to counsel in all matters of law requiring specialized knowledge and experience. + Provides legal analysis/interpretations of state and federal statues, rules and regulations to ensure agency compliance and assists staff with implementation thereof. + Prepares staff and represents DCFS in mediations involving the department as requested. + Serves as liaison on assigned legal matters between DCFS, other governmental agencies, the general public, community partners, stakeholders, and the judiciary (local, state, and federal) on a regular basis. + May perform other duties as needed for the smooth operation of the Department. Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment Career Progression: This vacancy may be filled as an Attorney 1-3 depending on the experience of the selected applicant. Works Schedule: Typically, work hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday. Flexible work schedules are available after meeting certain criteria and is dependent upon the position you are applying for. Some positions require working shifts. Compensation: Special Entrance Rates have been established for the following Attorney job titles: Attorney 1 $27.08 hourly (AS-617) Attorney 2 $28.98 hourly (AS-618) Attorney 3 $32.02 hourly (AS-620) The referenced positions are also eligible for premium pay of up to $2.00 per hour for hours work based on specific criteria.
