Capital One currently operates approximately 1,300 branded ATMs within its national banking footprint, and as we continuously modernize this branch hardware fleet, our lab ensures that every software release meets the highest standards of stability and performance. The qualified candidate will be responsible for performing automated teller machine (ATM) software release validation testing, which includes writing comprehensive test cases in JIRA and developing success/failure metrics to evaluate their effectiveness. This role requires a blend of technical software validation and hands-on hardware management, including fulfilling ATM reservation requests and maintaining the physical lab environment. You will work closely with Developers, Business Analysts, and Network Engineers to execute installation procedures, develop & implement an Adaptive Test Lifecycle (ATL), and an Fleet Traceability Matrix (FTM) to ensure the stability of our ATM fleet.
Responsibilities:
Test Case Development & Analytics: Write and build comprehensive test cases within JIRA while developing sophisticated metrics to determine the success or failure of those test cases
Framework Implementation: Develop & Implement an Adaptive Test Lifecycle (ATL) and a Fleet Traceability Matrix (FTM) to ensure rigorous testing standards across the ATM environment
Platform Configuration & Validation: Manage and configure backend card management platforms, such as CMSE or FIS Data Navigator, ensuring proper system setup and validation to support rigorous QA testing activities for the ATM fleet
Lab & Hardware Management: Manage ATM hardware within the lab and fulfill specific ATM reservation requests for project teams
Software Validation: Perform automated teller machine (ATM) software release validation testing and log defects in JIRA
Installation & Deployment: Execute in-person ATM software stack installations and analyze installation procedures
Issue Remediation: Investigate and cure ATM hardware and configuration issues to allow machines to be rebuilt or brought back into service
Manual Testing: Demonstrate the experience and willingness to execute lengthy manual validation testing scripts as required
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with Developers, Business Analysts, and Network Engineers to develop technical solutions and provide deployment support
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
At least 2 years of experience with Jira
At least 2 years of experience in Windows 10
At least 1 year of experience writing and building comprehensive test cases within JIRA
At least 1 year of experience developing and monitoring JIRA metrics to determine the success or failure of test cases
Preferred Qualifications:
3+ years of experience with Jira
1+ years of experience with Windows 11
1+ years of experience implementing an Adaptive Test Lifecycle (ATL) and Fleet Traceability Matrix (FTM)
1+ years of experience with ATM Software Stack and installations
1+ years of experience with Window Security updates and hardware encryption processes
2+ years of experience managing data to support advanced reporting and traceability
1+ years of experience with card management platforms such as CMSE or FIS Data Navigator, including experience in backend configuration, system setup, and validation to support rigorous QA testing activities for the ATM fleet
1+ years of experience identifying anomalies in a QA ATM test environment
1+ years of experience managing ATM hardware in a lab environment and fulfilling reservation requests
1+ years of experience with application packaging

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
Richmond, VA: $87,700 - $100,100 for Automation Test Engineer
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
