2 openings available. Employer will assist with relocation costs. The University of Rio Grande is seeking two (2) Athletic Trainers to start immediately. Reporting to the Athletic Director, these full-time positions are responsible for the prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Rio Grande is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), primarily competing in the River States Conference (RSC). Rio competes as the “RedStorm” in 26 intercollegiate varsity sports: Men's sports include baseball, basketball, bowling, cross country, football, golf, rugby, soccer, track & field (indoor & outdoor), volleyball, and wrestling; while women's sports include basketball, bowling, cross country, golf, rugby, soccer, softball, track & field (indoor & outdoor), and volleyball; and co-ed sports include bass fishing, cheerleading, dance, and eSports. After a 75 year hiatus, football returned for the 2025 season, competing in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC).PRINCIPAL DUTIES: -Onsite care and management of injuries and illnesses including: prevention, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation. -Assess risk of injury, perform ergonomic evaluation and coaching, self-care implementation, and overall wellness promotion. -Electronic documentation of all patient encounters. -Minimize risk of injury through awareness, education, and prevention strategies. -Provide accommodation recommendations, related to sport, for student athletes with restrictions or limitations. -Communicate with physicians and coaching staff regarding the injury status of athletes. -Carry out medical care for assigned student-athletes per the sports medicine standard operating procedures. -May have supervisory responsibilities with work study students and students fulfilling class-related observations and/or internships. -Responsible for administrative and other duties as assigned by athletic director APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: Please send cover letter, resume, transcripts (unofficial accepted for application purposes), as well as the names and contact information of at least three professional references, to Jeff Lanham, Athletic Director, through the University’s online application tracking system.
