What we want
The Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) is responsible for the prevention, care, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries to athletes using the necessary knowledge of injury patterns and modern principles of athletic training. Directly responsible for the management of their sport athletic training facility. Each ATC will be assigned administrative responsibilities commensurate with their experience level and educational background and based on departmental need employee interest. Supervises and educates student athletic trainers.

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
+ Master’s degree or higher in a specialized curriculum accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, or equivalent.
+ Previous experience as a certified athletic trainer in the collegiate setting
Required Licenses and Certifications
+ Certified by the Board of Certification (BOC). CPR Certification. Automatic External Defibrillator Certification.
Preferred Qualifications
+ 3 years or more of full-time experience as a certified athletic trainer at a NCAA Division-1 Institution
+ Certified by the Board of Certification (BOC). CPR Certification. Automatic External Defibrillator Certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Computer skills. Medical and first aid skills. Ability to tape joints. Rehabilitation skills. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Responsibilities
Therapeutic Intervention
+ Provide care under the medical direction of team physicians.
+ Provide care in conjunction with other healthcare providers.
+ Tape, brace, and fit protective equipment as appropriate for sport practices and games (events).
+ Follow appropriate rehabilitation protocols.
+ Provide use of therapeutic modalities and exercise using evidence-informed clinical best practices and guidelines.
+ Provide accommodations in sport related to injury / illness.
+ Assess readiness for safe return to play.
+ Guide sport-specific functional progression.
Healthcare Administration and Professional Responsibility
+ Coordinates with the entire Performance and Wellness Team to optimize the health, wellbeing, and performance of student-athletes.
+ Consulates with coaches and parents regarding student athlete health care as appropriate.
+ Prepare and communicate injury reports.
+ Document in electronic medical record in a timely fashion.
+ Collect pertinent medical paperwork.
+ Collect injury incident data for internal research purposes.
+ Coordinate student-athlete medical appointments.
+ Maintain athletic training room(s).
+ Maintain certifications and licensures on national and state level as appropriate.
+ Participate in continuing education opportunities, both individually and with the sports medicine staff.
+ Perform basic administrative duties for the sports medicine department.
+ Create / present professional programming as assigned.
+ Follow NCAA, SEC, TAMU policies, procedures, and regulations.
Injury/Illness Prevention and Wellness Promotion
+ Assess risk of injury/illness
+ Perform functional movement assessments.
+ Provide appropriate interventions based on assessment findings.
+ Assist sport Performance and Wellness Team in developing wellness programs appropriate for individual and team needs.
Examination, Assessment, and Diagnosis
+ Apply knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
+ Perform evidence-informed examinations and special tests.
+ Assess injury / illness to determine the appropriate course of action.
Immediate and Emergency Care
+ On-site management of injury / illness, either orthopedic or medical in nature.
+ Preparedness and implementation of immediate care regardless of severity.
+ Referrals to advanced healthcare providers as appropriate.
Supervision
+ Assists in the supervision of student athletic trainers
