Position Overview: The Athletic Director is a key member of the Bishop Montgomery High School leadership team and is responsible for the effective administration, compliance, and ongoing development of the boys’ and girls’ athletic programs. The Athletic Director provides vision and oversight for all aspects of the school’s athletic offerings, including budgeting, compliance with CIF and Archdiocesan regulations, coach recruitment and supervision, event management, student-athlete support, facilities, and community relations. This role requires a leader who can build strong relationships with students, coaches, families, and community partners, while ensuring transparency, accountability, and alignment with the school’s Catholic mission.

Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Degree in sports administration/management or teaching field preferred. • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a comparable leadership role. • Strong knowledge of CIF-SS, CAA, league, and NCAA regulations. • Demonstrated experience in hiring, supervising, and evaluating coaches. • Proven ability to manage budgets, facilities, and athletic event operations. • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. • Current certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED. • Commitment to working non-traditional hours (evenings, weekends, holidays) as required. • Demonstrated commitment to Catholic education and the mission of Bishop Montgomery High School. • Preference is given to practicing Roman Catholics. Personal Attributes • Ability to motivate and manage diverse teams of coaches & volunteers. • Ability to travel locally and regionally. • Ability to work well under pressure and be flexible and responsive to deadlines. • Excellent planning and communication skills. • Great attitude and willingness to assist when needed. • Ability to multi-task effectively. • Work well in a team environment. • Solid aptitude of Microsoft Suite, fundraising and budgeting. Physical and Environmental Conditions: • May be required to use personal vehicle during work • Required to attend frequent evening athletic competitions & meetings • Ability to lift, carry, or pull objects of up to 20 pounds in weight. • Simultaneous/repetitive use of both hands is required for writing and data entry. • Sight, hearing and speech required to communicate effectively.
