About the Position

This position is temporary through June 30, 2026, with the possibility of reappointment.

This position primarily serves as a sports information and communications assistant for CSUEB intercollegiate athletics, which consists of 14 teams with 10 head coaches plus assistant coaches. Under the supervision of the Assistant Athletic Director of Facilities and Operations, the individual will assist in providing game coverage (to include but not limited to: scorekeeping, reporting, and record-keeping, etc.) for a wide range of sports and athletics contests. This position will also support the coordination of video production and other digital media projects. This will include support in media relations, marketing, and game management.

This position has been identified to have significant responsibility for student and campus activities, and will be required to function as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) under the Clery Act. In accordance with CSU Executive Order 1107, Implementation of the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the incumber will be responsible for reporting allegations of Clery Act crimes to the University Police Department and/or the University Clery Director.

Responsibilities include:

Sports Information

- Member of the Game Operations team.
- Assist the Sports Information Director and Facility and Event Coordinator with game day operations and press row/press box management for home athletic events (including but not limited to: hiring, training, and providing lead work direction to student workers).
- Supports the creation of press releases, game notes, and stories for publication.
In coordination with Sports Information Director, maintain team and individual statistics for designated sports.
- Assist with maintaining and compiling a comprehensive statistical archive system including historical data and records for all athletic teams.
- Assist with the coordination and management of athletic content on the Athletic Website. 

Media Relations 

- Coordinate production of video content, as well as other digital media projects.
- Assist as a departmental liaison for all external media, including conference (CCAA & PCSC) and NCAA media relations offices.
- Assist with coordinating photography services for the athletic department, including scheduling shots and maintaining the photo library for the department and for student-athletes.

Special Events Support 

- Assist in the organization of departmental events, including but not limited to the Student-Athlete Awards Ceremony and Hall of Fame.

Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree with relevant coursework in public affairs, communications, or marketing.
- Up to 2 years of related professional or technical experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including grammar, spelling, and composition.

Preferred Skills and Knowledge

- Background in intercollegiate athletic communications.
- Strong writing and editing experience.
- Knowledge of Mac/Windows OS, video editing software, and desktop publishing (Adobe Photoshop, InDesign).
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office software, web content management systems (Prefer Sidearm, CBS Sports, Presto), and StateCrew statistics software.  
- Familiarity with computer-based sports statistical software.
- Knowledge of NCAA rules as they apply to sports information. 
- Must have the ability to stay focused in a busy office with shifting priorities and demonstrate flexibility in work assignments.
- Must be able to independently troubleshoot with good problem-solving skills.
