ASW Trainer (SCSTC-2025-23671):

 

Bowhead seeks am ASW Trainer to conduct classroom and shipboard hands-on training for tactical watch standers and technicians on surface combatants in the operation and maintenance of the AN/SQQ-89A(V) 15 sonar system and associated systems and create, review, and update course curriculum for all ASW courses taught under the Advanced Warfare Training program and support ASW Self-Assessment Groom Training and ASW team trainers

 

Responsibilities

Job duties include but are not limited to: 

 

Coordinates the development and delivery of complex ASW AN/SQQ-89A (V)15 Training programs and related materials in support of customer training objectives.Establishes and reviews ASW course content and objectives.Assist government representatives/stakeholders with determining applicability of current sonar principles, environmental analysis, and exploitation including Tactical Oceanography.Maintains records of training activities (via Integrated Performance Assessment Tool), participant progress, and program effectiveness.Provide instructor training on the AN/SQQ-89A(V)15 sonar system.Provides work leadership to lower-level employees, including evaluating the effectiveness of their training presentations and programs, and may have supervisory responsibilities.May serve on ASW technical team or task lead.Conducts research into new ASW training, educational, and multimedia technologies.Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.Participates in special projects as required. Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training, or work/military experience.

Qualifications:

Experience as an instructor or facilitator in a Navy Training Environment, to include curriculum maintenance, writing learning objectives, preparing test items, evaluating instructional materials and the results of instruction and counseling students on academic learning problems.                                                  

 

Additional qualification: Must be able to support training with extended periods on your feet while instructing. Prior SCSTC/TACTRAGRU instructor experience is a significant plus. Travel is required up to 30% of the time. 

 

Desired EXPERIENCE: A minimum of three (5) years in Surface Common Airborne Undersea Surveillance System Functional Segment (SCFS) as well as Underwater Fire Control Functional Segment (UCFS).  Requires NEC: V54B or Legacy STG 0524 or V56B or Legacy STG 0527

 

Additional qualification:

Must be able to support training with extended periods on your feet while instructing. Prior SCSTC/ATRC/TACTRAGRU instructor experience is a significant plus. Able to support shiftwork; this trainer will have 2 teams supporting the ATAO 10-week COI, one team working in am, another on 2nd shift specific times (2-3 pm start – 10-11 pm) to be determined. Secret clearance required.Travel may be up required to 10% of time.

 

Targeted salary range is 80,000/annually to 90,000/annually based on qualifications and experience.

 

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level.  US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
