About the Role  

At PwC, our people in audit and assurance focus on providing independent and objective assessments of financial statements, internal controls, and other assurable information enhancing the credibility and reliability of this information with a variety of stakeholders. They evaluate compliance with regulations including assessing governance and risk management processes and related controls. 
 
In financial statement audit at PwC, you will focus on obtaining reasonable assurance about whether the financial statements are free from material misstatement, whether due to fraud or error, and to issue an auditor’s report that includes the auditor’s opinion.

PwC Tanzania invites applications from qualified candidates for the position below: 

Manager - Assurance (based in Arusha) 

Assurance private in the Arusha office is looking for a manager with a strong auditing background. The ideal candidate will need to have experience with large and medium sized clients across various industries. As a manager, you will work as part of a team of problem solvers with extensive auditing and industry experience, helping our clients solve their complex business issues from strategy to execution.  

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

Managing the financial and resource aspects of Audit engagements, demonstrating a commercial approach throughout; 

Analyse information found during the fact-finding phase to develop frameworks and draw conclusions from fieldwork; 

Make decisions on priority of issues and associated risks identified during fieldwork, and articulate and support positions on key findings and recommendations within client work or other outputs/deliverables; 

Conduct interviews with senior level client staff, identifying the root causes, risks or other insightful information related to client issues and/or areas for additional consideration; 

Attend audit committee meetings, annual general meetings and any other meetings that the client requires attendance; 

Lead audit engagements from planning to completion in compliance with PwC and regulatory standards, while mentoring and coaching junior staff  

Building meaningful relationships and demonstrating curiosity that will allow to have insightful conversations and provide visible challenge during the Audit; 

Leading on the completion of areas of complex or judgemental audit work which includes the identification of issues, analysis of data, articulation of findings and the ability to draw informed conclusions. 

Qualification and Experience 

Bachelor's degree in any discipline 

Relevant professional qualification (CPA/ACCA) 

At least 6 years of experience in the external audit field (experienced gained at a Big 4 firm is an added advantage) 

Competence and skills 

Specialist industry knowledge IFRS experience 

Display sound leadership skills 

Ability to market PwC services and to establish contacts in the marketplace 

Excellent communication skills 

Strong interpersonal and management skills 

Confident in challenging yourself and others to complete high quality testing and documentation 

Taking pride in work and in the audit profession. Showing resilience and demonstrating dedication to self-development including being agile and innovative in the digital world 

Strong project management skills and experience in managing an audit from planning to completion including managing remote teams.
