Ascension is seeking a highly experienced and strategic-minded Associate Vice President (AVP) of IT Operations to lead the transformation and maturation of our IT operations function. This is a critical leadership role responsible for building and overseeing a centralized, proactive, and highly coordinated operations center. The AVP will be a key driver in enhancing our operational maturity, focusing on proactive issue detection, rapid incident response, continual service improvement and seamless service delivery across our complex, multi-vendor ecosystem.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in IT operations transformation, with a proven track record of implementing modern methodologies and technologies, including AIOps. They must possess a strong passion for leveraging data and automation to improve operational efficiency and reliability.  This role requires exceptional leadership, communication, and collaboration skills to effectively coordinate a large matrixed organization and a diverse set of external Managed Service Providers (MSPs).

Key Responsibilities

IT Operations Transformation: Lead the strategic planning, design, and execution of a comprehensive IT operations transformation roadmap. This includes maturing all facets of IT operations, from monitoring and alerting to incident management and service desk support.Operational Center Leadership: Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing IT operations team responsible for 24/7/365 monitoring, triage, proactive detection, and reaction to issues. Lead operations engagement and communication across markets, IT technical disciplines and service delivery leaders Major Incident Management & Coordination: Serve as the central command for all major incident coordination. Implement and enforce robust incident management processes to ensure rapid, effective, and coordinated response involving multiple internal teams and external vendors, driving down Mean Time to Resolution (MTTR).Change & Release management: Coordinate emergency and planned changes & releases across various tech disciplines and market deployments, for reducing & avoiding production environment  downtimesAIOps Champion: Drive the adoption and implementation of AIOps technologies and practices to automate issue detection, root cause analysis, and predictive maintenance. Champion a data-driven approach to IT operations.Service Desk & Operational Delivery: Oversee incident, problem, and change management to improve mean time to resolve, reduce repeat incidents, and maintain compliance with SLAs. Manages day-to-day supplier handoffs, escalations, and delivery performance. Ensure strict execution and adherence to all Service Integration and Management (SIAM) processes and operational governance frameworks, guaranteeing seamless workflow and service delivery across all providers.Vendor and Partner Management: Serve as the executive escalation point for operational issues. Manage the daily performance and service quality of all Managed Service Providers.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with a wide range of internal teams, including Infrastructure, Application Development, Cybersecurity, and Business Units, to ensure operational alignment and shared success.Operational Performance Metrics: Establish, track, and optimize key operational performance indicators (KPIs) like MTTR and service availability. Convert metrics into actionable insights that strengthen operational resilience and accelerate progress toward enterprise objectives.

Requirements

Education:

Bachelor's degree required.Master's degree preferred.

Work Experience:

7 years of experience required.10 years of experience preferred.5 years of leadership or management experience preferred.
Additional Preferences

Preferred Qualifications:

 

Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in IT operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within a large-scale, complex organization.Deep, hands-on experience in IT operations transformation, including modernizing monitoring systems, implementing AIOps, and maturing incident management processes.Proven experience working in a multi-vendor, managed service provider (MSP) model. Strong understanding of SIAM principles.Demonstrated expertise in building and leading high-performing teams responsible for 24/7 operations.Extensive knowledge of IT Service Management (ITSM) frameworks (e.g., ITIL). ITIL certification is highly desirable.Strong understanding of modern IT infrastructure, cloud technologies (GCP, Azure), and enterprise applications and Data/Analytics infrastructure.Experience with Enterprise Security and Compliance aspects and adherence for Change & release management.Demonstrated ability to collaborate across executive leadership, governance, and suppliers to drive results.Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus across diverse teams and stakeholders.A true passion for AIOps and a forward-thinking mindset regarding the future of IT operations.Experience in the healthcare industry is a plus, but not required.
