Expected pay for this position is $85.23 - $112.94/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is a Salaried position.
Overview
POSITION SUMMARY: The Associate Trial Counsel is responsible for assisting Trial Counsel in handling OSF HealthCare's general and professional liability cases. Manages a full case docket representing OSF in litigation. This includes daily interaction with OSF staff members, defense counsel, and opposing counsel.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Juris Doctorate (J.D.)
Other Licenses/Certifications:
Licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois, eligibility to take Illinois bar exam, or other eligibility for Illinois license (e.g. reciprocity)
Experience:
5 years' experience in medical negligence litigation
Other skills/knowledge: Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Other requirements/information:
Demonstrated working knowledge of medical negligence law and general principles of healthcare law.Proven working knowledge of federal and state law, tort law, and contract law as related to areas of potential healthcare litigation and of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and HITECH Act.Strong analytical ability, ability to prioritize, strong organizational skills and judgment, and ability to work effectively under strict time constraints.Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to interact well with people from various levels within the organizationOSF HealthCare is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
