The incumbent will perform experiments independently to support wash, formulation, fill, cryopreservation development for cellular therapies. Formulation studies will include initial formulation selection plus a variety of characterization studies relevant to the stage of development. Process development studies will include determination and characterization of process parameters associated with fill-finish operations such as washing, filtration, fill speeds, and controlled rate freezing. The candidate will collect, record, and interpret data appropriately and may present data at internal meetings. In particular, design and execution of appropriate studies, and efficient reporting of the associated data, will be an important function of this job. The candidate may eventually train other personnel on techniques and equipment. They will keep electronic lab notebooks, write technical memos with minimal review and keep abreast of scientific developments in various fields. New concepts learned in this way will be introduced into the workflow. Sound analytical knowledge and experience is required. The candidate should be proficient in a variety of methods relevant to cell therapy such as cell culture, cell counting techniques, and have an understanding of basic immunology. A strong understanding and experience in the application of various GXP concepts is preferred. Experience with operating larger cell instruments (e.g. Prodigy) is preferred.
