About the role

We are looking for a bright and enthusiastic individual to join the team as Associate Publisher and manage a portfolio of Social Sciences titles.  The list has a focus on Psychology, especially in the areas of Educational Psychology and Child Development.  This is a mixture of Society owned and proprietary titles and includes two gold Open Access tiles.  The Associate Publisher taking on this list would also be collaborating with 3 other Psychology Publishers and 2 Education Publishers to ensure aligned strategic growth, development and outreach in these fields.

The role balances academic research knowledge with a keen interest in new online and Open Access developments as well as a strong sense for relationship management.

About the team
 

The Social Sciences journals’ team is currently made up of 2 publishers in Oxford (UK), 4 in London (UK), 2 in Amsterdam and 1 in Shanghai.  This Associate Publisher position can be based at either the Amsterdam, Oxford, or London offices.

Any applicant needs to have a good educational background and keen interest in academic publishing; good communication skills; and would have to be prepared to work somewhat independently from the rest of the immediate team while also contributing to team initiatives as necessary.

Responsibilities

Staying up to date with market developments, to identify and map market needs and business opportunities.Combining market knowledge and data analysis, develop a portfolio strategy that will deliver on targetsManaging content growth organically and by (title) acquisitionManaging innovation of content formats and content extensions and channelsWorking closely with team members and other publishing colleagues to help deliver on collaborative projects and goals.

Requirements

Have a degree in a Social Sciences discipline is desirable;Willingness to travel internationally -4 weeks per year;Commitment to physically attend the office at least once per week;Have relevant publishing experience or experience in a related role is welcome;Have excellent networking and communication skills in English;Have the ability to adapt to change, handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
