Plant genotyping is a cornerstone to our breeding organization, requiring multiple platforms and technologies to deliver high quality genotypic results for downstream decisions. The Global Genotyping group, within GCOE, is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Associate to join the Controls Team as a Production Support Specialist. In this role, the Controls Team Associate will be hands-on in the development and optimization of both the synthetic and biological control pipelines; control inventory management and maintenance; automation support; and process optimization, supporting multiple genotyping pipelines.
This is a fast paced, deadline and data driven production environment blending science, technology and high throughput production. The successful candidate will be a motivated self-learner with plenty of initiative and possess some combination of knowledge and/or experience in genotyping processes, logistics, inventory management, customer service and high throughput processing.
What You’ll Do:
Assist in the design and validation of plasmid and oligo-based controlsSource biological material through Controlled Environments and seed request systemsProcure oligos and gBlocks through preferred suppliersMaintain and organize control inventories, ensuring outdated materials are removed and replacements are in place.Coordinate supply shipments and local distribution based on demand plans/outlookAbility to troubleshoot performance and/or quality issues and conduct root cause analysisSupport continuous improvement activitiesParticipate in projects relevant to the Controls operations spaceBuild relationships with global laboratory leads to ensure inventory levels are maintainedPartner with production teams to ensure control pipelines meet customer needs.Coordinate with production teams to balance workloads and participate in automation maintenance. Perform routine lab support tasks, consumable management and restocking, cleaning, and general maintenance.Ensure a safe working environment and compliance with CAMS requirements.Provide backup support for production platform when applicableWhat Skills You Need:
Bachelor’s degree in a life sciences fieldComfortable working with laboratory information systems and automated platforms.Ability to adapt to shifting priorities while maintaining accuracy.Strong communication and teamwork skills.Highly organized with effective time management skills to handle multiple tasks and prioritiesDemonstrated problem solving skills and ability to manage through challenging situations (ex.
