The Role

The Commercial Banking Division of the Wells Fargo Legal Department is seeking an Associate General Counsel, Executive Director to manage a team of lawyers and professionals supporting asset-based lending and trade finance businesses. The role will be part of the expanded Division management team supporting numerous products, businesses and projects within Commercial Banking.

Specifically, this leader will:

Serve as a more experienced legal advisor to more experienced management of the businesses within Wells Fargo

Handle matters that have a significant impact on operations, strategies, or profitability

Manage and develop teams with moderate complexity and risk

Participate in the most complex legal projects

Apply specialty legal expertise proactively, to manage the most complex legal and regulatory issues

Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvement and risk control development

Determine appropriate strategy and actions of team to meet moderate to high-risk deliverables

Interpret and develop policies and procedures for functions with moderate complexity within scope of responsibility

Develop relationships with and provide guidance to more experienced leadership including executive officers on issues that may present legal, regulatory, compliance, or reputational risk to the Company

Collaborate with and influence all levels of professionals, including more experienced managers

Oversee and take an active role in the education and training of a team of attorneys

Engage and influence stakeholders, internal partners and peers associated with the function or affected by its outcomes

Manage allocation of people and financial resources to ensure commitments are met and align with strategic objectives in Counsel

Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy

The Candidate

The successful candidate will demonstrate effectiveness in building and developing high-performing teams focused on driving business results through effective leadership and employee engagement; contributing to a broad strategy with an enterprise focus; and embodying our Company Expectations. The successful candidate will also be effective in establishing strong working relationships with senior leadership and will be regarded as a trusted advisor on legal and regulatory issues, business strategy, risk management, and business management in a manner that is consistent with Company goals and expectations.


Required Qualifications:

6+ years of Law experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

3+ years of management or leadership experience

Active State Bar membership or the equivalent in a country outside the United States


Desired Qualifications:

Demonstrated experience in commercial banking, specifically asset based and secured lending, and letter of credit expertise at a large bank or financial services company.

Proven client relationship and interpersonal skills at the senior executive level, including the ability to provide valuable and trusted advice to clients and colleagues on legal, business management and regulatory questions.

Excellent written and oral communication, influence and negotiation skills.

Proven ability to (i) adapt quickly to a changing or crisis environment while building relationships and negotiating for desired outcomes, (ii) work under pressure to meet tight deadlines, (iii) understand complex business activities and operations, (iv) prioritize among competing demands, and (v) develop and maintain relationships of trust with business leaders.

Pay Range
 

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.

$215,000.00 - $355,000.00
