Associate General Counsel- Commercial Property
Position Description: Reporting to the Head of Legal for Lexington and AIG’s North America Retail Property organizations, and as part of the North America Insurance Legal team, this role will provide day-to-day legal business partner support to the senior leadership team of AIG’s leading North America Wholesale and Retail Property organizations. This position will allow you to meaningfully impact the growth and success of AIG’s Property business units. Primary responsibilities for this position include: + Providing day-to-day legal business partner support to Lexington Insurance Company’s Wholesale Property organization and AIG’s North America Retail Property organization, as well as providing advice and business oriented legal strategies to insurance executives and underwriters with respect to transactional, regulatory, legal and compliance matters impacting the business objectives of the organizations more broadly; + Working collaboratively with business stakeholders and product centers of expertise with respect to negotiating, drafting and/or reviewing commercial property insurance policies, endorsements, applications, policyholder notices, ancillary agreements (such as, NDAs) and advertising and marketing materials in connection with various insurance coverages; + Researching, analyzing and monitoring the legal/regulatory issues and trends impacting or potentially impacting surplus lines and admitted commercial property insurance products and distribution of same, and acting as a subject matter expert and thought leader with respect to these issues; + Leveraging product line subject matter expertise and knowledge of our business, collaborate with regulatory colleagues to address regulatory matters impacting the relevant business units, including responses to inquiries on insurance regulatory issues and resolution of regulatory and customer complaints; and + Gaining a thorough understanding of AIG’s North America Wholesale and Retail Property businesses and the markets in which they operate. Education and Experience: + Familiarity with property and casualty insurance products, including commercial property, surplus lines, the business of insurance and insurance regulation. + 3+ years of experience in either a law firm or in-house legal department. + JD from an accredited law school and strong academic credentials. + Admitted to practice in at least one state. Skills and Abilities: + Proven collaborative leadership skills; + Strong initiative and work ethic; + Focused attention to detail and honed analytical, drafting and problem-solving skills; + Strong communication and interpersonal skills; + Ability to work collaboratively with other Legal department colleagues; + Ability to be a self-starter and work independently; + Ability to adapt to changing needs of the organization and/or business clients and to think creatively; + Excellent organizational and time management skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment; and + Sound legal and business judgment. The base salary range for this position is $118,000-159,200 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
