Operations & Dispatch Engineering consists of teams that develop and deliver an array of services powering its products. These teams tackle a broad set of technologies and solve challenging technical and product problems daily. We’re seeking a talented engineering leader to head this organization within Collins Aerospace. In this role, you’ll provide leadership, technical guidance, and product vision to an organization of teams and engineering managers. You’ll be responsible for organization building, delegation, service architecture and reliability, customer satisfaction, hiring, retention, and driving results across a large org. You’ll also work closely with senior organizational leaders across Sales, Marketing, Product, Program, Customer Service, and more to align engineering priorities with business goals. As the leader of Operations & Dispatch Engineering, you’ll join a highly collaborative and ambitious team, passionate about aviation and data. This position is onsite and can be located in Annapolis, MD; Houston, TX; Charlotte, NC; or Cedar Rapids, IA. **What You Will Do:** + Establish a clear vision for the group, promoting innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement that empowers managers and ICs. + Foster leadership growth within the organization by mentoring managers and developing clear succession plans. + Act as a hiring manager for engineering managers. + Own the organizations entire technical stack, including a number of high-performance distributed systems with strict SLAs. + Drive DevSecOps and Continuous Delivery maturity. + Champion engineering and operational excellence, establishing metrics and processes for regular assessment and improvement. + Identify, implement, and champion process improvements across the engineering organization to enhance productivity, collaboration, and delivery efficiency, while ensuring alignment with company goals and industry best practices. + Drive business growth across the organization through product vision and leadership, efficient execution and delivery, and successful hiring and retention. + Work with business and product leaders to define roadmaps. + Own the organization’s engineering budget, producing Annual Operating Plans and ensuring costs match financial forecasts. + Drive an excellent customer experience, continually raising the bar on functionality, usability, and simplicity. + Drive collaboration across teams throughout Operations & Dispatch, Connected Aviation, and Collins. Drive alignment and collaboration with other technical leaders across the company to ensure consistency in tools, processes, and strategic goals. + Understand the aviation space and collaborate with cross-functional partners. + Identify and mitigate technical and organizational risks. Prepare the organization for future challenges. **Qualifications You Must Have:** + Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience + Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position. + Successful track record as an engineering leader in the tech industry. + Experience in hiring and performance management of teams. + Experience fostering the professional growth of team members and creating succession plans. + Demonstrated ability to balance short-term deliverables with long-term goals, ensuring both immediate impact and sustainable growth. + Demonstrated ability to balance business priorities, urgency, competing constraints, and the delivery of high-quality, pragmatic solutions in a fast-paced environment. + Experience driving process improvements across a team. + Demonstrated success building relationships across an organization to drive success and alignment with product, sales, and other engineering teams. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
