4 Year DegreePresbyterian College Athletics, an NCAA Division I member of the Big South Conference, is currently accepting applications for the position of Associate Director of Strategic Athletics Communications. This is a full-time position with benefits. This position reports to the Associate Athletic Director for Strategic Communications and the responsibilities will include but are not limited to, coordinating communications efforts, generating social media content and proactively publicizing all aspects of Presbyterian’s women’s basketball, volleyball, and baseball programs and a couple of other Olympic sports, extensive writing (press releases, feature stories, and website), layout and design (record books, website, and other publications), editing record-keeping, stat inputting and social media.

Duties and Tasks: Assist the Associate AD for Strategic Communications in successfully fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of the strategic communications unit. Gather and disseminate information to appropriate media, including press releases and/or feature stories for placement in local, regional, and national media. Serve as primary contact for all media inquiries and outgoing communications for assigned sports programs. Create content and post graphics by way of Presbyterian Blue Hose athletics’ social media platforms. Coverage of athletic contests includes writing and distributing press releases to local media, reporting game results/statistics to appropriate agencies, etc. Write, edit, and design athletics publications, including record books, and game programs. Oversee editorial content of athletics web pages, including updated press releases, team information, schedules, and results. Attend athletic contests, keep statistics, and help oversee the football press box and press row at basketball games (assisting media representatives attending games). Assists in training and oversight of a strategic communications Intern and/or student workers.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Experience, and Education:
Strong written and oral communication skills required. Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field. A minimum of one (1) year of related experience in a collegiate athletics environment, including experience with sports information, athletics communications, and/or media relations. Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Canva, website platforms (including SIDEARM), Stat Crew statistical software, and NCAA Live Stats (Genius) Software. Proven accuracy, thoroughness, timeliness, attention to detail, and sense of urgency in meeting responsibilities and established deadlines.
