About the role:

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Associate Director Mission Area Finance provides financial guidance from business capture/proposal development, through contract set up to delivery enabling growth while achieving its financial commitment to the business. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the Mission Areas strategy, growth, and investments while ensuring strong financial performance, robust internal controls, and building a high-performance finance team.

Partnering with the existing Associate Director Mission Area Finance and the wider Finance Leadership Team (FLT) you will bring strong leadership skills, deep industry knowledge, and a passion for driving business excellence in a complex and mission-critical environment. 

Skills and Experience

Excellent track record in strategic and commercial financial management.Extensive years' of relevant experienceUniversity or Advanced Degree in a related fieldStrong business acumen.Working in a process and data-driven organisation.Experience in implementation of new process, policies in support of strategies to deliver outcomes, business resultsProven experience in successfully leading a finance function or business area.Working in different business environments across a complex international large scale technology business – growth, consolidation, turnaround/contraction.Working in a business with a matrix or complex management structure.Effective problem solving, communication and influencing skillsUnderstanding of working in a Regulated or other Business to Government business.

Responsibilities

Partnering with the relevant mission area leadership team, provide financial insight and risk analysis to ensure sound business decisions are made in programme implementation and new business and strategy.Lead all aspects of financial management for a complex portfolio, including planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and performance reporting to drive both short-term results and long-term growth. Manage business processes, including Estimates at Complete (EAC), Customer Reporting, Gate 5s, Working Capital Management and Earned Value Management.Construction of the relevant Mission Area Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and Long-Range Plan (LRP)Provide financial briefings and communications to customers, Finance Leadership Team, SCM/Ops, Engineering, as well as MA Director.Partner on new and innovative cost strategies in support of competitive procurements.Champion a high-performance culture focused on people, customer commitment and core values aligned with strategic business objective.Manage, mentor and inspire a high performing team(s) of financial professionals building an internal talent pool for succession.Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, systems and reporting.
