Job Description

The Associate Director, US Market Access Strategy & Effectiveness reports to the Head of US Market Access and is responsible for support, driving, enabling, and measuring strategies and initiatives that enhance the effectiveness of the US Market Access Leadership Team and organization. This individual will lead efforts to optimize cross-functional collaboration, budget management, meeting planning and effectiveness, Market Access organizational culture, reporting, POA (Plan of Action) planning and alignment, broader organizational alignment, and tactical planning. The role also includes assessing evolving external environmental policies and circumstances, providing impact assessments, strategic and tactical recommendations, and mitigation approaches to ensure continued business success. The Associate Director will play a critical role in US Market Access launch readiness for the upcoming launch of anito-cel, partnering closely with all cross-functional teams and serving as an excellent connector of people and functions. This position is based in our Santa Monica, CA headquarters.

 

Key Responsibilities

Leadership Team Effectiveness

Drive initiatives to enhance the effectiveness and cohesion of the US Market Access Leadership Team

Develop and implement tools, resources, and processes to support leadership team priorities and decision-making

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Foster strong partnerships with internal teams including Sales, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Patient Services, Finance, Legal, and other relevant functions to ensure alignment and execution of Market Access strategies

Serve as a connector and facilitator to drive collaboration and information sharing across Kite and Gilead teams

Budget Management

Oversee Market Access budget planning, tracking, and reporting

Ensure efficient resource allocation and adherence to financial targets

Meeting Planning & Effectiveness

Lead planning and execution of key Market Access meetings, including Leadership Team meetings, POA sessions, and cross-functional workshops

Develop agendas, facilitate discussions, and ensure actionable outcomes

Market Access Organizational Culture

Champion initiatives that build and sustain a positive, high-performing Market Access culture

Support change management and organizational development efforts

Reporting & Insights

Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to track Market Access performance, KPIs, and strategic initiatives

Synthesize insights from internal and external sources to inform strategy and decision-making

POA Planning & Alignment

Lead the planning and alignment of Market Access POA activities in coordination with all team members and relevant cross-functional partners

Ensure integration of Market Access objectives with broader organizational goals

Broader Organizational Alignment

Partner with Business Strategy & Operations leads to ensure Market Access strategies are aligned with overall Kite and Gilead business priorities

Support enterprise-wide initiatives and cross-functional projects

 

Market Access Tactical Planning

Develop and execute tactical plans to address key Market Access challenges and opportunities

Support the development and pull-through of initiatives that drive access, reimbursement, and customer engagement

US Market Access Launch Readiness – Anito-cel

Lead and coordinate US Market Access launch readiness activities for anito-cel, ensuring alignment across all relevant functions

Develop and implement launch plans, tools, and resources to support optimal access and reimbursement for anito-cel

Monitor launch milestones, identify risks, and drive mitigation strategies to ensure successful launch execution

External Environment Assessment

Monitor evolving external policies, regulations, and market dynamics impacting Market Access

Provide impact assessments, strategic recommendations, and mitigation approaches to ensure business continuity and success

 

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and 8+ years of experience,

OR Master’s Degree and 6+ years of experience,

OR Advanced scientific degree (MD, PharmD, PhD) and 4+ years of experience

 

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare industry with a focus on market access, business strategy, or operations

6–8+ years of experience in market access, business strategy, and/or commercial operations within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry

Strong understanding of US healthcare policy, reimbursement, and access dynamics

Demonstrated ability to drive cross-functional collaboration and influence decision-making

Experience with budget management, meeting facilitation, and organizational development

Excellent project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills

Experience with launch readiness and execution for new therapies, ideally in oncology or cell therapy

Ability to synthesize complex information and develop actionable insights

High emotional intelligence, situational awareness, and ability to build positive culture across teams

Experience leading change-based initiatives and strategic projects

Robust organizational and prioritization skills, with ability to manage multiple projects in tight timelines

Excellent verbal and written communication skills


 

The salary range for this position is: $177,905.00 - $230,230.00. Kite considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
