What Makes This Opportunity UniqueAs a CRG Associate Director, Sample Management at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., you will lead an exceptionally dedicated team in Middleton, WI, ensuring flawless execution of sample management operations. This role offers the outstanding opportunity to provide strategic direction and drive world-class service and reliability both internally and externally. The job responsibilities include:
Staff Management:
Lead and coordinate the recruitment process, including interviewing and selection.Prepare comprehensive job descriptions.Foster professional development through goal setting and performance management.Provide behavioral and technical coaching and mentoring.Manage employee counseling and separations.Approve salary administration, hiring, corrective actions, and terminations.Review and approve time records, expense reports, requests for leave, and overtime.Promote our Equal Employment Opportunity policy and Affirmative Action Plan.Operational Leadership:Direct staff to ensure workloads are completed accurately and timely.Monitor workload metrics to manage staffing levels and advise senior management on future needs.Resolve issues promptly to maintain operational efficiency.Process Improvement:Continuously review department processes, training, and SOPs to improve service and efficiency.Ensure appropriate training for new hires or process changes.Lead initiatives to improve organizational services.Audit and Compliance:Act as the primary contact during sponsor audits.Present the department's work, processes, and metrics.Ensure the department is always audit-ready.Financial Management:Analyze departmental financials to meet EBITA or margin targets.Negotiate with vendors or participate in RFI/RFP activities for new partnerships.Strategic Decision Making:Align decisions with overall business needs and strategies.Attend important organizational meetings to define future central initiatives.Education and Experience:Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 10+ years).5+ years of management responsibilityProven experience in a leadership role within a research or clinical sample analysis setting.In some cases an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Outstanding ability to analyze data and identify inefficiencies.Strong skills in process improvement and financial management.Ability to successfully implement central initiatives.Expertise in relevant software and data flows.Work EnvironmentThermo Fisher Scientific values the health and wellbeing of our employees.
