About the Role
This role is responsible for supporting research, sourcing, underwriting, and monitoring activities related to private equity (PE) and venture capital (VC) investments across AIA Business Units. The position involves active participation in the execution of PE/VC strategies, including due diligence on both direct company investments and third-party fund managers.The successful candidate will be expected to deliver robust quantitative analyses and well-substantiated qualitative assessments, and to clearly communicate both the methodologies and findings to internal stakeholders.
Roles and Responsibilities
Support research activities in private equity (PE) and venture capital (VC) investments, leveraging resources across Group Investment and other internal IMs or AMCs
Source suitable PE/VC third-party managed fund opportunities for AIA Business Units (BUs), aligned with Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA) and Tactical Asset Allocation (TAA) frameworks
Contribute to due diligence and terms negotiation for third-party managed funds and direct investments, in collaboration with PE/VC team members
Assist in sourcing and evaluating co-investment opportunities, including engagement and negotiation with third-party general partners (GPs)
Support portfolio management and monitoring functions for PE/VC investments, ensuring timely updates and performance tracking
Collaborate with CIOs of relevant AIA BUs to advance PE/VC investment strategies, and coordinate with Capital Management, Risk, Legal & Governance (L&G), and Investment Operations on PE/VC investment activities.
Conduct investment due diligence and post-investment performance monitoring in support of Group Strategy and BU-level strategic initiatives
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Regional Director of Investment Management – Private Equity and Venture Capital
Minimum Job Requirements:
Minimum of 8 years of experience in PE/VC fund or direct investments
Strong quantitative skill set preferred
Excellent communication skills; fluency in spoken English/Mandarin and proficiency in reading and writing English/Chinese are required
Prior experience in the China PE market is an advantage
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related discipline
Investment-related professional qualifications such as CFA or CAIA are preferred
