The Associate Director, Planning, Data & Insights will be located in Foster City, CA and responsibilities include the following:
Responsibilities:
Data & Analytics Leadership
Design and implement the Public Affairs measurement and analytics framework.
Build an executive-ready dashboard utilizing key metrics across Public Affairs.
Translate complex data and analogs, including media, reputational, corporate responsibility and stakeholder inputs, into strategic insights and actionable advice for senior leaders.
Assist in developing and managing annual KPIs, dashboards, and impact reporting to track Public Affairs and Gilead performance.
Partner with data providers, platforms, and internal analytics teams to leverage analytics tools.
Strategic & Financial Planning
Proactively drive progress around our annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes for Public Affairs, with a focus on operational efficiencies and collaboration.
Build deep relationships with cross functional partners, including Finance, Procurement, and commercial business partners to ensure alignment of resources with strategic priorities.
In partnership with Finance, conduct financial modeling, scenario planning and investment analyses to ensure financial discipline.
Project & Portfolio Management
In partnership with Corporate Affairs and Legal Project Management Office (CAL PMO), utilize project management tools and processes to support key initiatives, workstreams, and cross-functional programs.
Track progress across strategic initiatives, manage dependencies and risks, and support cross-functional execution.
Support the implementation of the operating plan, including leadership meetings, business reviews, and planning cycles.
Consulting & Benchmarking
Serve as an internal consultant / Centre of Excellence to Public Affairs leaders on strategy development, metrics, and best practices.
Lead competitive and functional benchmarking to assess performance against peer organizations.
Monitor emerging and industry trends to inform functional evolution, capability building and foresight.
Competitive & Reputation Intelligence
Track competitor activities, media trends, public sentiment, and stakeholder sentiment.
Deliver regular briefings, issue alerts, trend analyses to inform Gilead’s narrative strategy and risk mitigation, in partnership with Public Affairs Leaders
Collaborate closely with cross-functional departments, including government affairs, policy, investor relations and the Office of the CEO to align insights with positioning efforts.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bachelor's degree with 10 years of experience in a strategic, analytical, or operations-focused role within Public Affairs, communications, corporate strategy, consulting, or a related field or master's degree with 8 years of relevant experience.
Proven experience using data to generate insights and influence decision making.
Strong financial acumen and experience with budgeting, forecasting, and resource planning.
Proficiency with project management tools and best practices.
Familiarity with media monitoring, social listening, or competitive intelligence platforms.
Exceptional written, visual and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional collaboration and influence stakeholders at all levels.
Preferred:
Background in public affairs, corporate communications, reputation management, consulting, PR agencies or government relations.
Experience in a global or highly matrixed corporate environment.
Knowledge of the regulatory, political, or social responsibility landscapes impacting business and reputation.
