Job Description

*This is a fully remote/field-based role, with around 50% travel*

Vision and Strategy:
The Associate Director, Patient Advocacy, is an influential leader within the US Oncology Commercial, Capabilities, and Operations team, directly supporting AbbVie’s vision to build enduring, impactful partnerships with patient advocacy communities and professional organizations specializing in solid tumors (currently ovarian and lung). This role exemplifies AbbVie’s leadership principles, including accountability, strategic agility, and a commitment to innovation, driving cross-functional business success through collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the establishment and ongoing strategic management of relationships with patient advocacy organizations (PAOs) and professional societies, acting as a trusted AbbVie ambassador.Serve as a key contributor in annual brand planning for the solid tumor portfolio, crafting and implementing advocacy strategies that support commercial imperatives and embody a patient-centric mindset.Represent AbbVie Oncology at high-impact advocacy and professional organization events, consistently demonstrating executive presence and fostering AbbVie's reputation as an industry leader.Champion a proactive and innovative approach to patient and professional engagement, upholding the highest standards of compliance and continuous improvement.Provide actionable, strategic insights across the organization from advocacy interactions, leveraging these to shape programming and inform decision-making.Identify and drive collaborative, mutually beneficial initiatives with advocacy and professional organizations, elevating AbbVie as a partner of choice.Model and embed patient-centric behaviors and insights throughout the US Commercial Oncology team, leveraging advocacy perspectives to identify unmet needs and address barriers to optimal patient outcomes.Ensure exemplary cross-functional collaboration with Commercial, Medical, Clinical, Public Affairs, Legal, and Compliance partners, driving aligned, compliant execution of advocacy strategies consistent with AbbVie leadership expectations.Promote AbbVie Oncology’s visibility and reputation through innovative advocacy initiatives and strategic partnerships.Monitor and communicate evolving legislative, policy, and market trends related to patient advocacy, acting swiftly to guide organizational strategy and keep leadership informed.Oversee sponsorship and grant budgets for advocacy partnerships, demonstrating financial stewardship and transparency.Proactively assess and respond to advocacy and policy trends that could impact the business, applying a solutions-oriented, enterprise-wide perspective.Develop and implement metrics, systems, and processes to track advocacy program outcomes, inform strategy, and facilitate effective internal communication.Lead, mentor, and develop Marketing Manager(s), fostering a high-performing and engaged team aligned to AbbVie’s People Leadership competencies.Oversee strategic communications and internal campaigns, ensuring alignment with AbbVie’s vision at home office, national meetings, and key conferences.
Qualifications

Qualifications:

10+ years of relevant experience in marketing, sales, clinical, patient advocacy, or professional society management (oncology strongly preferred), with a demonstrated record of leadership and results.Expert understanding of industry and business priorities with ability to translate needs into robust, strategic patient advocacy plans that achieve Abbott’s commercial and patient engagement objectives.Proven track record in leading strategic patient advocacy/HCP programs, with strong engagement across internal and external stakeholders.Demonstrated project and budget management expertise, with measurable impact.Longstanding relationships within the oncology advocacy or professional society community preferred.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
