What is the opportunity?

RBC Capital Markets is a leading global investment banking company dedicated to providing services in banking, finance, and capital markets to corporations, institutional investors, asset managers, and governments globally. The Funding and Liquidity technology group within RBC Capital Markets' Quantitative and Technology Services (QTS) organization is responsible for supporting the business units that manage both secured and unsecured funding within Capital Markets. We are investing in new capabilities to ensure that RBC is as efficient as possible in funding the firm in line with our risk appetite. You will work within a small team liaising with business analysts and business users directly. This is a hands-on development role with a real opportunity to learn the Capital Markets business.

What will you do?

As a Lead developer you will implement strategic greenfield initiatives for Funding initiative to integrate with generic data processing pipeline

Code, test, debug, implement and support a strategic intraday real-time Asset Liability Reporting

Analyze, debug and resolve production issues related including but not limited to data flows, application performance, system latency and infrastructure and network products

Carry out data analysis & schema designs for Funding and Liquidity modernization applications

Be a mentor and technical leader to provide architecture oversight and technology steer for all ongoing and upcoming BOWs (books of work)

Collaborate with the wider CM community for input and review of approach / design

In this role, you will communicate and interact frequently with RBC partners and/or employees located across Canada and/or worldwide

What do you need to succeed?

 Must have:

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree, preferably in Computer Science with 5+ years of experience in software design and development with Java (Java 11 minimum) 

Excellent knowledge of Spring Boot, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, threading & concurrency

Excellent knowledge of SQL, Solace, Hadoop ecosystem, Maven, Unix & other CICD development tools

Knowledge of developing distributed cloud applications (Docker/ Kubernetes /Containerization)

Knowledge of version control systems like GitHub and build frameworks like TeamCity/Jenkins/Artifactory

Experience supervising and guiding more junior developers in the team & ability to act as Team Lead deputy in event of Team Lead unavailability (vacation etc)

Nice-to-have:

Working knowledge of distributed/in memory caches like Apache Ignite

Prior experience in Python, enterprise DataLake concepts (S3, Iceberg, HDFS, Hive, Dremio toolkit)
