Caterpillar’s Earthmoving division in Brooklyn Park is hiring an **Associate Design Technologist** ! In this role you will support the design, analysis, and testing of Vibratory Soil Compactors. The position will focus on hydraulic system integration. While focused on hydraulics, you will also interact with other systems on the machine including structures, powertrain, engine, and electrical. You will also be part of a global design team with partners in Brazil, China, and India. Please join us in delivering Soil Compactor cost, quality, and technology leadership! **What You Will Do (Job Duties)** + Work with the Soil Compactor hydraulic system team to design hydraulic subsystem and system designs + Placement of components like pumps, motors, valves in the machine and routing hoses to connect components + Collaborate with all systems on the design team and cross functional business partners to ensure hydraulic system designs meet quality, velocity, and cost targets + Complete drawing packages and coordinate the release of hydraulic system drawings + Participate in prototype machine builds and testing to find and fix hydraulic system issues prior to production **What You Have (Basic Qualifications):** + **Analytical Thinking:** Bring a continuous improvement mindset to overcome challenges and develop multiple solutions to business and technical problems. Ability to identify and clarify design tradeoffs across multiple solutions to select the best design. Working with a global team across time zones requires precise, clear communication on design interfaces. Verbal and written communications are important when multiple systems occupy the same space claim, and teams need to navigate solutions that work for all business partners. + **Technical Excellence:** Strong component design, 3d modeling, and system integration skills. The hydraulic system interfaces with many systems on the machine.
