**General Summary**
Direct and manage the day-to-day activities of the Office of Academic Affairs. Provide central oversight of residency/fellowship programs, compliance with institutional requirements of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Provides oversight of finances for Graduate Medical Education (GME/Residencies/Fellowships), Undergraduate Medical Education (UME/medical students), Continuing Medical Education/Accredited Continuing Education(CME/ACE), the Medical Simulation Center. Oversees scheduling of visiting residents/fellows, Advanced Practice Provider (APP) student rotations, and medical student rotations. Provides administrative and financial leadership for the system libraries and associated library staff. Provides management and oversight of the Immigration and Naturalization Services (INS) visa application process for all foreign residency program applicants. The Associate Chief Academic Officer serves as the ACGME Designated Institutional Official (DIO) for WellSpan Health.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
+ Oversee the day-to-day activities of the Office of Academic Affairs.
+ Lead continuing medical education programs, residency/fellowship training programs and medical student, APP student, and other educational/ academic programs.
+ Provide management and oversight of the INS visa application process for all international residency program applicants. Facilitate resident/fellow visa applications, documentation, and updates and reports.
+ Facilitate communication between residents/fellows, residency/fellowship program directors and coordinators, medical students, medical student clerkship directors and coordinators, and the administration.
+ Serve as the ACGME Designated Institutional Official (DIO) for WellSpan Health, ensuring that the organization and the associated residency and fellowship programs at WellSpan teaching hospitals, and any other teaching sites, maintain substantial compliance with the ACGME Institutional and specialty-specific Program Requirements. Oversee and certify Program and Institutional updates via the ACGME online Accreditation Data System (ADS).
+ Provide oversight of the INS visa application process for residents requiring this process.
+ Complete all required Annual Institutional Reviews (AIR), required data submissions, and other information as mandated by the ACGME.
+ Review and submit all residency/fellowship program annual updates, new program applications, and other data, to the ACGME.
+ Compile, review, and sign all Program Letters of Agreement (PLA) for internal/external residency/fellowship rotations, as well as affiliation agreements with external institutions (when needed).
+ Oversee the ACGME functions and requirements for each residency/fellowship program, in conjunction with the appropriate Program Director.
+ Ensure the structural, financial, and human resources support are in place for the WellSpan Health ACGME Institution, and all constituent Residency/Fellowship programs.
+ Ensures a safe and effective learning environment for residents/fellows, faculty, and others involved with the educational programs.
+ Ensure appropriate resident/fellow and faculty development for teaching skills, human resources areas, recognition and referral for sleep and fatigue-related issues, recognition and reporting of harassment and bullying, well-being, and overall professional development/planning.
+ Lead and/or participate in all required meetings, including the WellSpan Health Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) and sub-committees, resident/fellow forums, and task forces and work groups related to ACGME requirements. Participates in ACGME regional and national DIO meetings and forums.
+ Report ACGME-required annual GME update to WellSpan Health governing body (Board of Directors).
+ Oversee structure, planning, and execution of Program-specific recruiting and Match processes for new residents/fellows.
+ Organize and lead preparation and operational components for ACGME Institutional site visits, residency/fellowship program site visits, and any other required accreditation visits or reviews.
+ Work with the VP-Chief Academic Officer, as well as the Associate Chief Academic Officer-Physician, to establish, revise and operationalize the Academic Affairs Strategic Plan.
+ Meet all regulatory requirements Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (CME/ACE), ACGME, and Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME/medical student rotations/sites, Regional Medical Campus at WellSpan York Hospital).
+ Serve as a key liaison between the WellSpan Health Graduate Medical Education (GME) enterprise and the Temple University Lewis Katz School of Medicine at WellSpan Health. Leverage synergies between the educational programs whenever possible.
+ Oversee the WellSpan Continuing Medication Education (CME) team, including personnel management, scheduling and oversight of CME activities, recording and tracking via the online electronic CME management software (e.g., CloudCME). Ensure compliance with all Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED) and Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCMGE) accreditation requirements. Maintain current accreditation, with goal to achieve highest level - Accreditation with Commendation.
+ Oversee the Medical Library staff and operations, including physical locations and references, electronic references and system-wide resources and budgeting.
+ Provide administrative and budgetary support for system medical libraries (WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital, WellSpan York Hospital, WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital), medical librarians, and library staff.
+ Oversee the operations and budget for the WellSpan York Hospital Kinsley Family Foundation Medical Simulation Center, including personnel, standardized patients, equipment and technology, and other daily functions.
**Qualifications**
+ Master's Degree in healthcare administration, education, business administration, or other relevant area required.
+ At least five (5) years experience in healthcare-related education required.
+ Medical education leadership including accreditation requirements for ACGME, LCME, and/or ACCME preferred.
