Job Description

Title: Associate Applications Engineer, Oil & Gas

Key Accountabilities: 

Provide technical product support assistance directly and indirectly to operators and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), including participation in customer technical meetings for determining key buying characteristics, providing technical documentation, and analyzing customer/OEM requirements.  Provide engineering support to senior staff for the integration of complex project systems in oil & gas domain, including internal combustion engine (ICE) mechanical solutions, ICE generators, Battery Energy Storage Systems (ESS), and plant manager controls.Ensure a sustainable increase in reliability and availability of the product or system, ensuring an emission compliant installation, improved customer satisfaction, and promote increased product and personnel safety through continued end-to-end project engagement,  Provide sound knowledge in Systems Design Integration, contributing knowledge in: problem resolution, defining requirements; designing and integrating products, physical & functional systems & product systems; performing technical analyses; verifying products, physical & functional systems and components throughout the product lifecycle.Apply understanding of gas & diesel power product operation, product systems, sub-systems and interactions and integrate and manage interfaces.Design or evaluate systems using Systems Engineering principals to achieve optimum solutions at product and sub-system level.Problem resolution including ownership of root cause investigations, problem reports, Red Tops, Safety Alert Reports (SARs), Quality Concerns, Major Quality Investigations (MQIs), Drawing Alteration Requests (DARs).Perform or coordinate order specific engineering calculations and report on resultsSupport engine and systems acceptance testing through field tests.Maintain and develop field test data acquisition systems through test software programming, sensor calibrations, and test equipment configurations.Support engine and electric systems acceptance testing for first of class commissioning or by special orderSupport EPA Field test exemptions through testing, documentation in support of testing objectives, and tracking of exemption statusDevelop and manage test plans to meet test objectivesConduct engineering tests in the field to validate product installations according to technical requirementsGenerate and Maintain test report documentationPromote a safety & compliance culture in area of responsibility and live the letter and the spirit of the Rolls Royce Code of Conduct.Perform special projects as required.

Basic Requirements: 

Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical, Petroleum, Electro-Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technologies

Preferred Qualifications:

Good inter-personal and presentation skills. Ability to communicate with and influence all levels including the customer.Good ability to work with and co-ordinate with extended (i.e. not necessarily co-located) multi-disciplinary teamsFamiliarity with test engineering principles and their applicationsFamiliarity with Labview programming and NI hardware solutionsExcellent analytical and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent organizational, planning and follow-up skillsStrong interpersonal skillsStrong oral and written communication skillsProficient with PC and MS Office SuiteCommitment to employee safety and RRSA Safety ProtocolsFamiliarity with Rolls-Royce Solutions MTU Branded productsFamiliarity with MODBUS, CAN bus (J1939) protocols and bus toolsKnowledge of power generator applications and generator controls, Electrical System Architectures  Knowledge of vibrations analyticsAdvanced Labview programming skillsExperience with OEM oil & gas equipmentFamiliarity of CAD ModelingUnderstanding of Failure Mode and Effects AnalysisKnowledgeable of Project Management PrinciplesKnowledgeable on Engine Performance Testing & AnalysisFamiliar with Uncertainty Analysis and its principles in testing measurements
