ROLE SUMMARY
The Associate on the Investment Reporting Team, within the Northern Trust Asset Management COO office, is primarily responsible for supporting the development, compilation and distribution of client and product data and insight delivery across diverse portfolio strategies including fixed income, equity, multi asset class, and ESG. This individual partners with stakeholders and clients in a matrix-style organizational framework to ensure the accurate, timely and precise delivery of client and product insights. This role is instrumental in narrating Northern Trust Asset Management’s value proposition to internal and external clients and business partners.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Team member focused on achieving excellence in Investment Reporting for a trillion dollar global asset management firm. Day to day responsibilities include:
Works with internal operations teams to ensure the accuracy of underlying client, fund, and/or strategy data
Assists with special projects and/or process improvement initiatives
Identifies & assists in implementing improvements to existing processes to further gain operational efficiency and productivity
Identifies, designs and implements data quality checks in conjunction with Chief Data Office to solidify data integrity in a speedy and accurate manner
Interface with portfolio managers, product and/or client servicing to understand servicing requirements
Supports the development, compilation and distribution of client, fund and strategy reports
Speaks knowledgably on specific Asset Management product offerings with familiarity across all product offerings
Serves as the subject matter expert for current reporting capabilities and infrastructure
Collaborate with investment and client service teams on client inquiries, client development and RFP’s
May serve as a senior partner/source of information to provide informal guidance and training to junior team members
Stays abreast of investment reporting capabilities and solutions across the asset management industry to ensure NTAM is competitively positioned
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Highly motivated, flexible and adaptable to change
Ability to operate in a deadline driven environment while still maintaining a strict attention to detail and ability to prioritize issues appropriately
Conceptual knowledge with Investment Management applications and systems such as Aladdin Blackrock and Eagle preferred
Solid business analysis skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Office applications
Advanced Excel/VBA and SQL is a plus
Demonstrated ability to work independently to complete tasks, on time but also work with the team on brainstorming and collaborating
NECESSARY EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
2+ years of experience in Financial Services (Investment Accounting, Finance Operations or Fund Accounting, etc.) is required; Asset Management experience highly preferred
A College or University degree and/or relevant proven work experience
Solid analytical and troubleshooting skills in the performance calculation and/or reporting process
Versed in market trends, financial concepts and investment performance calculations
Solid oral and written communication skills
Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills
Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office applications
General Knowledge of investment management principles, strategies, and policies and regulations applicable to the investment management industry
Pursuing a CFA, MBA, and/or CIPM designation is a plus
Salary Range:
$61,500 - 98,300 USDSalary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
