**Position Summary:**
Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a driven, politically interested, and diligent **Associate, Government Relations** to support our government relations efforts in Washington, D.C. This role provides an opportunity to support high-impact advocacy efforts aligned with Thermo Fisher’s mission.
As a key member of the Government Relations team, the Associate will assist in advancing our public policy objectives, conduct policy research, and support engagement with policymakers, trade associations, and industry coalitions. This role offers a strong foundation for career growth in corporate government affairs and public policy.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ **Policy & Advocacy Support:** Support the development and execution of advocacy strategies related to Thermo Fisher’s core business areas, including appropriations, clinical research, diagnostics, distribution and supply chain, pharmaceutical services, regulation and reimbursement, and international trade.
+ **Legislative & Regulatory Monitoring:** Track, research, and analyze federal legislation, policies, and regulatory developments. Prepare internal summaries and recommendations to inform the company’s strategic positioning and advocacy approach.
+ **Materials Development:** Draft briefing documents, correspondence, talking points, and other advocacy materials for internal and external use, including support for interactions with Congress, federal agencies, and industry partners.
+ **Partner Engagement:** Attend and report on congressional hearings, agency briefings, coalition meetings, and trade association events. Assist in managing relationships with key external partners.
+ **Event Support:** Help organize and implement government-facing events such as congressional briefings, site visits, and facility tours involving policymakers and company leaders to highlight Thermo Fisher’s role in scientific innovation and public health.
+ **PAC Administration:** Support the management of Thermo Fisher’s Political Action Committee (PAC), including but not limited to due diligence on candidates.
+ **Administrative Coordination:** Provide general administrative support to the team, including scheduling, logistics, and record-keeping.
**Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, international relations or a related field.
+ 1–3 years of relevant experience on Capitol Hill, in the Executive Branch, government affairs, public policy consulting, or within a trade association or corporation.
+ Strong alignment with Thermo Fisher's mission..
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex policy issues into clear, compelling messaging.
+ Demonstrated professionalism, sound judgment, and commitment to bipartisan collaboration and coalition-building.
+ High level of initiative, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
+ Strong interpersonal skills and confidence interacting with internal partners and external audiences, including government officials and senior executives.
+ Ability to travel domestically up to 10% and attend evening events.
