Global Markets provides a broad range of products and services including Global Markets origination and syndication, Foreign Exchange/FXO, Cash trading (including electronic and program trading capabilities), Options, Derivatives, as well as Commodity Structured Products. Our relationship management teams ensure that our clients have access to all of our product lines across the globe. This synergistic approach to coverage among our major accounts has had a dramatic, positive impact on the dynamics within the Global Markets business. **JOB PURPOSE**
CIBC's Foreign Exchange Group provides FX/FXO services to clients on a global basis with connectivity to Canada. This is consistent with the Wholesale Bank's global strategy of bringing Canada to the World and the World to Canada.
The Associate will be expected to provide a broad range of analytical and research support services to all the professionals in the group. The incumbent will gain exposure to working with various product groups across the firm. This could include Debt, Equity, CCP and FLM. A team approach is designed to provide progressive on the job training.
**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**
+ Assist in executing all facets of the FX/FXO group's mandates
+ Working closely with Tech and Op's support to ensure smooth functioning of the day to day operations
+ Working closely with the Sales team to better understand client needs and effect cross-sell across various Products
+ Analysts are responsible for quantitative and qualitative data analysis and research.
+ Maintaining the groups data bases in conjunction with the global team.
+ Play a key role in the maintaining of pitch-books, client data and Product knowledge content and sites.
+ Assist in business/client calls as required
+ Must be able to travel on short notice and be absent from the office for periods of time

**CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS**
+ Interacts on a regular basis with internal Risk and Advisory staff to ensure that proposed transactions comply with internal risk policies and industry regulations.
+ Collaborates with other traders and originators in the execution of transactions.
**COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS/RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ As an employee of CIBC, the incumbent must comply with all applicable CIBC and Line of Business policies, standards, guidelines and controls.
**AUTHORITIES/DECISION RIGHTS**
+ This role initiates and manages the execution of FX transactions across major and minor currency pairs. The role is fully delegated to act as transactor/risk manager across all areas of the FX Product family.
**JOB DIMENSIONS**
+ Asset classes: Foreign Exchange
+ Client segment: Institutional clients and Corporate clients
+ Geographic market: Primarily focused on the Asian client market with mandate to grow global capabilities.
**KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS**
+ Undergraduate degree in a business related discipline
+ Knowledge of Business, Economics or Finance acquired through education and experience. Strong Technical/Computer skills
+ Working knowledge of the Financial Services Industry
+ Ability to work in a demanding and dynamic environment
+ Proven academic record
**WORKING CONDITIONS**
+ Intense, fast-paced work environment with tight deadlines and high demands.
+ Transaction-driven work schedule with unpredictable and occasionally long hours.
+ Some travel.
+ Highly collaborative work environment; over 50% of role is team-based.
+ Position is located on the open concept trading floor.
+ Must be prepared to work outside normal working hours including 2am Starts Monday AM and 5am starts during the week.
