Analyzes credit information to support lending decisions and processes for new and existing Commercial banking loans and credit solutions in an assigned portfolio of clients. Makes credit decisions and recommendations in compliance with bank policies and procedures while maintaining an exceptional client service environment.

Performs financial analysis and calculations, assesses client creditworthiness, prepares detailed credit summaries, analyses financial performance and risk profiles of clients within the portfolio.Utilizes financial models and analytical tools to assess client repayment capacity and recommend appropriate loan structures and collateral.Supports credit-granting decisions by making recommendations to manager.Supports portfolio monitoring and compliance, within the portfolio to identify deteriorating credit conditions and ensure compliance.Analyses metrics and assesses industry trends to spot risks and opportunities.Supports the negotiation of loan terms and conditions and the structuring of loans that align with client requirements and ensure compliance with the banks risk appetite and policies.Develops proposals to capture new business and expand client relationships.Builds and maintains client relationships to ensure long-term financial performance in collaboration with Relationship Manager and business partners.Structures and supports new, renewal and extension loans aligned with client needs and bank & risk policiesConducts financial analysis and risk assessments of clients’ credit information, for an assigned portfolio, to provide insights and make informed decisionsMonitors the portfolio performance for assigned portfolio of Commercial Banking clients on an ongoing basis, taking corrective action when required. Minimizes BMO’s risk exposure by adhering to credit policies, regulatory standards, and operational guidelines.Serves as a point of contact for service requests, ensuring expectations are consistently met or exceeded.  Escalates issues when needed.Supports and implements initiatives to enhance service quality, acquire new business and expand client relationships.Identifies revenue and cross-selling opportunities to enhance portfolio growth.Identifies share of wallet opportunities.Leverages analysis tools to nurture and grow a portfolio that exceeds ROE thresholds and evaluates client returns on a proactive basis.Manages timely and accurate data entry into BMO's systems and leverages the data to support decision-making.Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus.Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.Works independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations.Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

The Associate will be actively involved in:

Data management: (a) Maintain and continuously improve underwriting models used in various BMO commercial mortgage products and manage information database and pipeline reporting (b) Ensure data integrity of all BMO loans provided for third party due diligence and (c) Ensure all BMO loan files are complete and ready for transfer on closing of the transaction.Securitization: (a) Managing aspects of the CMBS securitization process and be an active and integral part in our education and development efforts with Investors, Rating Agencies, co-sellers, and other third-party providers and (b) Coordinate and organize data and mortgage loan files collected from co-sellers; manage an efficient accountant due diligence process for BMO as well as Co-Seller loans.Financial Modelling & Development: (a) Developing various financial and pricing models to ensure that BMO is selling whole loans and/or commitments based on best execution and (b) Using modeling tools to provide analysis and recommendations to enhance loan structure for optimal execution and to maximize individual loan / pool profitability.Loan Servicing: Includes any borrower requests and monthly/quarterly reporting and remittance of funds of the securitized BMO CMBS loansComplete annual servicer audits and annual reviewsWork on ad hoc projects to improve operational efficiency of commercial mortgage business and widen product reach.

Qualifications:

Preferred 3 – 4 years of relevant experience in credit or lending instruments or financial operations in a corporate or banking environment.If a Credit Qualifiable job, Credit Qualifications and associated credit knowledge and skills according to the credit portfolio requirements and qualification standards.Bachelor’s degree required; Business Administration, Finance and Accounting preferred. Any other related discipline or commensurate work experience considered.Technical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience.High proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and VBA.Strong quantitative and analytical skills; attention to detail is required at all timesPrior working knowledge and experience in commercial real estate, mortgage brokerage or CRE lending an assetStrong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities and timelines and mortgage loan files collected from co-sellers; manage an efficient accountant due diligence process for BMO as well as Co-Seller loans.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
