Business Unit Description:
The goal of CIBC’s Capital Markets business is to be the premier client-focused Capital Markets business in Canada, Europe, Middle East and Asia. To deliver on this, the Capital Markets banking arm of CIBC provides a wide range of credit, global markets, investment banking and research products and services to government, institutional, corporate and retail clients in Canada and in key markets around the world.
Major Activities:
The Financial Solutions Group supports the distribution of Fixed Income, Money Market, Foreign Exchange, Structured Notes and Market-linked GICs to CIBC’s Wood Gundy Investment Advisors and Private Bankers, Retail Bank financial advisors and Third-party Advisors. The successful candidate will be primarily focused on distributing CIBC Structured Notes through various distribution networks in Continental Europe.
ACCOUNTABILITIES OF POSITION (KEY OUTCOMES & ACTIVITIES):
Work closely with marketers and traders to develop appropriate solutions and timely execution. Liaising with other CIBC infrastructure groups (ISG, credit, treasury, tax, legal, client onboarding, etc) and resources, as appropriate, to deliver transactionsDetermine and provide our clients with product / rate information in a timely manner with exemplary serviceProspect and develop clients through outbound and follow-up calls, value-added transaction idea generation, client meetings/presentations and customized solutions, all the while providing trusted advice.Great organization skills to develop and roll out a marketing planCross-sell other products, depending on product availability and customers’ requirements, rate sensitivity, at all times making sound judgmentMonitor/track and analyze market activities, economic factors, on an ongoing basis throughout the day to be in a position to respond to client requests with timely trade ideasOn your own initiative, develop product knowledge through directed or self-directed study. Be prepared to cross train when the appropriate time arises, as suggested by management. Share any developed skills, knowledge, ideas with management and other members of the Financial Solutions Group. Attend learning sessions held by the Trading Room as requiredCROSS-FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Work together with relationship managers in Capital Markets across different product lines.Other key infrastructure groups supporting the equity and fixed income derivatives, such as Middle Office, Finance, Technology and Operations.COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS/RESPONSIBILITIES
Work effectively within CIBC's corporate governance practices and policies (e.g. Risk Management, Finance, Human Resources, Legal and Compliance) to ensure all potential risks are appropriately addressed and that CIBC legal/reputation issues and shareholder objectives are covered, and to promote the firm’s vision, mission and values.As an employee of CIBC, the incumbent must comply with all applicable CIBC and Line of Business policies, standards, guidelines and controls.KNOWLEDGE / SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Undergraduate University degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) preferred, with at least 2 years of similar or relevant business experience, as a sales role position in a bank, asset manager or private bank.Knowledge of current financial markets, and an understanding of current market transactions.Able to very quickly acquire knowledge, to demonstrate competence and to add value to the transaction and client relationshipsExcellent oral and written communication skillsProficiency in all Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, PowerPoint ,etc.), other programing skills can be a plusEfficient organizational skills to respond to shifting priorities on several simultaneous projectsExcellent interpersonal and relationship building skills in order to develop, manage and leverage relationships with clients, internal and/or external business partnersSignificant presentation/interactive skills sufficient to clearly articulate complex conceptual information/ideas on issues involving extensive interpretation and opinionProven ability to develop viable product ideas and to lead product development process from idea generation through to closing.
