Summary
Associate Director Innovation & Entrepreneurship Public Affairs Strategic Projects
Position Highlights:
The Associate Director Innovation and Entrepreneurship (l&E) Public Affairs and Strategic Projects, is a strategic consulting leader responsible for advancing the Innovation and Entrepreneurship department's public policy agenda, managing communications that promote the department's mission and impact, and executes mission-critical, non-routine special projects that drive key business outcomes and align with the organization's strategic objectives. This role integrates legislative advocacy by acting as a liaison with key stake holders, manages l&E strategic communications, and stakeholder engagement to support innovation initiatives and elevate the department's visibility at local, state, and federal levels, and combines advanced project management with management consulting - advising leadership and stakeholders across departments on complex business issues, best practices, and innovative solutions.
Select Responsibilities:
Public Affairs, Strategic Communications and Marketing:
• Represent the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Office, when partnering Moffitt's Government Affairs, Public Relations, Marketing, and Communications departments to align innovation initiatives with ensure alignment of messaging.
• Responsible for developing and ensuring successful execution of select marketing and client engagement efforts, including CRM management to improve outreach, retention, and customers relationship management.
• Partner with marketing and communications teams to help build brand presence around innovation and l&E initiatives.
• Monitor and synthesize legislative and regulatory developments impacting innovation, entrepreneurship, and healthcare research, and communicate relevant updates to internal stakeholders.
• Support the development of communications campaigns that promote innovation initiatives and influence public policy, in coordination with institutional communications teams.
Special Projects & Management Consulting:
• Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, and successful delivery of special projects, ensuring completion within scope, timeline, and budget.
• Collaborate with senior management to identify high-impact projects, develop project charters, and align initiatives with organizational priorities.
• Provide management consulting to internal stakeholders, performing data analysis, synthesizing insights, and developing actionable recommendations to solve complex business challenges.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams (e.g., marketing, operations, IT, finance) for development, seamless execution and alignment of special projects with corporate strategy.
Enterprise Collaboration & I&E Operations:
• Work with Innovation and Entrepreneurship Operations leader for planning, budgeting management related to advocacy and communications tools. Additionally, this position is responsible for vendor management.
• Collaborate and influence Moffitt cross-functional departments that support Innovation and Entrepreneurship government affairs and communications functions.
• Collaborate with internal departments including Legal, Research, Public Relations, and Finance to align innovation goals with policy and outreach efforts.
Credentials and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree within Public Health, Public Policy, Communications, Business Administration, Management, or related field. Minimum of six (6) years’ experience to include the following: Management consulting and strategic planning. Communications, Public Relations, Marketing: strategy, content development, execution. Public policy and Legislative advocacy Strategic impact Project leadership as well as managing direct reports. Strong project management skills. Strategic problem-solving skills. Building government partnerships. Strong leadership, organizational, and communications skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines. Ability to analyze data, interpret trends, and present recommendations in a clear, actionable format. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects, work cross-functionally, and influence without authority. Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.Preferred:
Master’s Degree within Public Health, Public Policy, Communications, Business Administration, Management, or related field. Background in federal public policy, health care innovation, or federal funding stream analysis. Experience with media relations, grassroots advocacy, and stakeholder engagement. Familiarity with legislative tracking software and contact management systems. Knowledge of Florida’s legislative appropriations process and regulatory landscape.
